ESPN reported that the owner of Valhalla is the one who picked Scottie up from the jail. Gives a good indication of how bad PD fricked up here. They'll probably try to save face by waiting until tournament is over but all charges will surely be dropped here. Cop will probably quietly be suspended for a bit.

One of the big selling points for Valhalla Golf Club is that it was on the PGA Championship rotation. Given that, it probably was on the short list to possibly get a Ryder Cup someday. All of that is gone over stupid police who cannot add 1 and 1 to get 2. That owner must be beyond incensed.
People wonder why the Super Bowl and the Final Four and the National Championship always comes to New Orleans. One reason is that groups like the NFL have great partnerships with NOPD and other agencies to avoid this kind of thing, and NOPD is experienced in dealing with the big events. If a sports league or governing body cannot trust local law enforcement to exercise good judgement, then it won't go to that city.
