Who here hasn't ever used his putter as a sword after sinking a putt? He was one of my favorites as a kid.

Mine too. Golf needs more Chi Chi’s than the current robotic soy boys.

RIP Chi Chi...

Was sitting on a par 3 tee box at Lakewood during the New Orleans Open back in the day...
Chi Chi and Trevino were teeing off...
there was a constant give and take from those two the whole time...
Chi Chi barely missed the green ending up on the fringe...looked at the crowd and said "bad lie" on a ball that was tee'd up...

Also at Lakewood and due to rain they had to play 36 on Saturday. He gets to the 18th final hole and he announces "I'm one tired Puerto Rian!" Someone offers him a swig of beer! He walks over to the guy and takes a big swig. Says thats just what I needed. Alway's an entertaining dude. RIP

An artist.

He was a senior tour must see clinic.
He could hit the same club so many different windows, spin, stop dead, run out.

Would have loved to see him in a one club tournament with Trevino and Seve.

I shook his hand at the 1993 US Senior open at Cherry Hills. I was 9. I still remember it clearly.

Jack won that year. Chi Chi had a top 5. He was a character.

Also one year at the GNOO, '79 or '80. Cut class from LSU Med School with a buddy and went to the tourney on Thursday and Friday. One afternoon after watching the pros, we went out to Brechtel Municipal, not exactly a posh course. After checking in at the pro shop and walking toward the 1st tee, we noticed Chi Chi practicing his short game on the practice green by himself. Guess he wanted to be away from crowds. We didn't want to bother him but we watched him for awhile. First time I saw anyone use a fairway wood to chip with-great time.

That's how golf SHOULD be. That's how it is when I play. If you think I'm going out there and act like I'm in Church, you don't wanna play with me!

I actually did it the last time I played after 2 putting from about 90 feet over a circus green at Fields Ranch West.

RIP, Chi Chi

I guess I read this on the MSB, but Chi Chi was introduced at a tournament, as the crowd quietened, somebody spoke up in Spanish in which Chi Chi responded in Spanish. Afterwards he tells his caddy in which everybody there heard, watch my golf bag, there's a Mexican in the crowd. LOL.
