Would you watch then??

If this were a thing...... I'd have to be honest and say I'm pulling for Team LIV. Lots of solid golfers on this side and most of them are way funnier to watch.

Phil's probably not wrong, would be must see TV.

PGA would probably win, but I think it'd be close. Where PGA would dominate is if you did a 13-24 on the pga/liv rosters

Probably swap out a couple of LIV guys for Gooch and/or Ancer

Would definitely be entertaining. I feel like the PGA would be favorites around -175 to -200. Somewhere in that range.

Datagolf is probably the most accurate and comprehensive. Using current DG rankings:
Scheffler (1) vs. Rahm (5)
McIlroy (2) vs. Hatton (9)
Schauffele (3) vs. Niemann (20)
Hovland (4) vs. DeChambeau (32)
Morikawa (6) vs. Burmeister (40)
Cantlay (4) vs. C. Smith (43)
Homa (8) vs. Koepka (42)
Fleetwood (10) vs. Johnson (43)
Aberg (11) vs. Gooch (52)
Poston (12) vs. Oosthuizen (54)
Thomas (13) vs. Reed (58)
Henley (14) vs. Pereira (76)
There are some others right outside that top 12 on the Tour like Spieth (17), Fitzpatrick (18), Sungjae (19), Tom Kim (21), and Finau (24) that would probably get a look if this were a true Ryder Cup-style format with captains' picks. This wouldn't really be remotely close at current form; the Tour is just far deeper, and the churn and competition at the top is just enormously advantageous for the competitive edge. If any of LIV's top guys aren't playing well (which is inevitable to some degree, and is obvious with some of them right now), then they are up shite creek without a paddle whereas the Tour can go to the next 12 and then the next 12 and so on and still have elite options.

Not even close. It is heavily slanted towards the PGA guys.
JT Poston #12 player in the world and Cam Smith #41?
Cam Smith 22-1 at Augusta and JT Poston is 150-1.
Russell Henley #14, Koepka #42.
80-1 and 16-1.
LIV not having more comprehensive SG data is partly to blame but the rankings are miles away from being accurate.

The Rory drama is something to really watch right now. I saw that he met Yasir in London a couple of weeks ago and his stance towards LIV has been Pro-LIV the last few months. There are reports that he and Tiger have more or less split from each other due to strong differences of opinion.
Would not surprise me in the least to see Rory and Phil make up and then Rory announces he is joining LIV.

The Top 9 Players on LIV in 2024 were in order:
Talor Gooch (finished 15th at Mayakoba)
Cameron Smith (finished 8th at Mayakoba)
Brooks Koepka (finished 5th at Mayakoba)
Bryson DeChambeau (finished 25th at Mayakoba)
Dustin Johnson (finished 5th at Mayakoba)
Patrick Reed (finished 17th at Mayakoba)
HVIII (finished 54 at Mayakoba)
M. Pereira (finished 43 at Mayakoba)
B Grace (finished 49 at Mayakoba)
Golf is a strange game!

I watch neither anymore. Used to watch lots of golf.
The whole debacle of the sporr turned me off, and I have just lost interest in watching and playing. Went from playing at least once a week, to haven't played in 8 months.

Data Golf is generally based on your all around play average, not your high end play.
JT Poston has made every cut since the Travelers and has 9 top 10s in his last 13 events. Russell Henley has finished in the top 20 in 10 out his last 14 events.
So their floor has been better than Brooks’ and Cam’s, but obviously Cam and Brooks have a higher ceiling. On top of that, the Masters is one of the biggest “Horse for Courses” places that exist and Brooks and Cam have played very well there historically.
Phil Mickelson has the same odds as JT Poston but to argue they’re the same level of player right now is hilarious.

LIV golf stopped you from actually playing golf? What in the world

Naw, my back did.
Kinda started enjoying my Saturdays in other ways for a while I guess.
I started losing interest in watching golf well before LIV was even a thing. Used to watch every tournament, then just every Major, then maybe the final rounds of the Majors... to not watching at all.

I feel ya there. I'm 37 and two back surgeries in now. My back kills me daily but especially the day after a round. And good god if I don't stretch before I play I'm in trouble.
