I’d give my left nut to be able to play golf for a living. Let alone make $40M and still have people lamenting my lack of “success” at winning majors.

Rory

He’s near the lead so often and doesn’t come through. A guy that is clearly one of the 2-3 most talented players in the world (likely closer to 1 than 3) yet he doesn’t close out the tournaments like he should.

Lately in the majors, he’ll shoot himself out of the tournament with a poor round on Thursday or Friday and then shoot one of the low scores for the weekend to finish in the top 10.

He has the ability to win at an all time amount, but he isn’t closing the deal. I heard someone else say it best, “Rory is one of his generations best, but will he win enough to become one of the all time bests?”

This trend is maddening with Rory for sure.

He has admitted more than once that motivation is an issue and that it's tough for him to lock in without fans at the events. Just became a father too, so a lot going on.

I was not saying “lack of success”, but quite the opposite.

Charles may have only “won” a few times, but he has played sustained really good golf for 20 years or Sox $40 million.

I’m sure he’s made endorsement money in the $25 million range as he is on TV a bunch.

If he was an average putter he would have won this week by 10 shots, ridiculous ball striker, and stupid long

Hate to say it, but Phil Mickelson.
This is a bad choice. He's 9th all time in wins.

Probably the most naturally gifted player in the history of the game
Not even close.

The name that belongs here is Fred Couples for both. Fred is a hall of famer. He has 14 official wins. So, Phil has 3.5 times as many wins.

And he should be 3rd or 4th. Which was my point.

I would agree that Fred Couples is naturally gifted. I’m not sure that negates that Phil Mickelson is also naturally gift. Even Tiger says that he is. It’s part of why Tiger disliked Phil so much... because he didn’t work that hard on his game or Physical fitness so Tiger felt like he wasted his gifts by not maximizing them. Phil is 6’3”, with a genius level mind and one of the best pair of hands of any athlete in any sport. He’s never even had a serious injury to my recollection.

The reason I mentioned Nelson and Snead is because neither of them practiced very much but played at historically great levels. Snead was an incredible athlete. His strength and flexibility are legendary.

OK, but I do not see why you think this.

Because he has blown numerous PGA Tour titles and majors that he was in prime position to win, and if he would’ve converted some of those he would be 3 or 4 in win totals. And based on his skill level, he’s under achieved

Was painful watching him putt on Sunday. This is after changing his grip too.

He and Hideki would be all time greats if they could putt even a little bit.

Bryson. With all the press he gets you’d think he would be winning at a rate better than prime Tiger.

Keegan Bradley is another one that I thought would have won another major by now.

In this era it is hard as frick to win a tour event.

With all the training and technology and advancements in swing coaching you have to play incredible golf for 4 days to win now a days.

You could have said the same thing 10-15 years ago. Not saying you’re wrong but you could extend it and not just say nowadays.

Answer is Koepka. Has about 3 PGA wins outside of majors. Won some in Europe though.

This can’t be the answer because everybody knows this, they make it a huge deal every time he competes in a major

If talking strictly PGA Tour events, my vote is Louis Oosthuizen.
