re: Official: LIV golf in the hands of PGA Tour Leaders

It absolutely is. The Saudis are going to the minority investor in the new entity that will controlled by the PGA tour. That new entity will own and control LIV.
You act like the PGA tour has no money outside of the PIF. The pga tour was a multibillion dollar operation before Saudi money became a thing. They aren’t LIV, has zero revenue or cash influx outside of the Saudis.
As to all of those proposals, they all were in the same presentation where Yasir would be the head of and control entity called “Global Golf opportunities” that would control the pga tour and LIV. That’s objectively not what the agreement says. It’s the opposite.

All of these proposals got rejected. LIV/PIF came into negotiations with a merger of equals idea and got shot down.
They wanted Yasir as head of all operations. Not happening.
Say what?. The Saudis wanted into the PGA dance, period. Saudis originally wanted to be an investor. They are now the ONLY investor. Not only are they the single investor in all professional golf, LIV, PGA, and DP Tour) going forward, but they have the Executive Chairman, Yasir Othman Al-Rumayyan, sitting on the PGA board. Something that was never originally thought possible with their original interest over a year ago. Big picture: They want a voice in major American sports. This is a huge first step in this market. They have to be giddy about getting so much so early and the biggest pure American sport, the PGA Tour, to boot. Can you keep that in mind for at least 5 minutes?
quote:
They wanted Rory and tiger to join LIV. Not happening.
LIV Golf never offered Rory a penny. Rory admitted that last week. Tiger said no originally, but many brand names said yes. So many in fact that Monahan said he couldn't stop LIV from taking golfers in the future. It's why poaching is in this framework agreement. It was a big reason Monahan was motivated to start this merger. The only asset the PGA really possesses is talent. Watching it walk away in bunches scared Monahan to death. And still does.
quote:
They wanted LIV players automatically allowed back on PGAT. Not happening.
Who wants to go back? The brand names on the LIV Tour said they are happy where they are. Not one LIV golfer said he wants to take less prize money and have to play more golf. That is pure golf channel/PGA Tour mythology and their propaganda machine, like you, in the first place. Second, there are no PGA sanctions in this framework agreement that would keep DJ or any other LIV golfer from playing a PGA event. The only golfers totally pissed off and unhappy are PGA golfers. And they are as mad as a stirred hornet nest at the PGA Tour. LIV players have never been disrupted through all this.
quote:
They wanted retroactive WR points for LIV. Not happening.
In the framework agreement, the PGA has agreed to help LIV players get World Ranking Points. Given that the PGA is the one prohibiting points, with their political power at this point, why would anyone expect that to continue? With LIV players getting to play majors, you can see why they aren't in any hurry to earn less money on the PGA Tour.
quote:
They wanted LIV as a guaranteed standalone tour going forward. Not happening.
You continue talking out your azz. This merger is all about the brave new world in pro golf. All things are redefined. In the framework, all 3 entities will exist and are so mentioned. Even the LIV team concept was discussed. Comprehension is still important dude.
quote:
Also even under these proposals, LIV was going to be in the fall….going up against football…aka might as well not exist.
So a golf league that has spent the last 3 tourneys in other countries, why does LIV care? LIV golf is international and proud of it. They don't need anything dude. They have billions of dollars. Something else people can't keep in mind for more than 5 minutes. Football hasn't even stopped the PGA from operating tourneys at the same time in the fall.

So liv wanted Rory and tiger to join and pga said no, and then liv gave up in order to merge. Makes sense They knew they didn’t have a viable product.

These old geezers in Congress are gonna let this go through they just need to make sure they get their cut of the multibillion dollar deal. I don’t understand how Congress has any say in what 2 private entities do. If it were two small potato tours merging these old bastards wouldn’t even give a shite.
ETA Rand Paul nailed it

Paul nailed the hypocrisy. I liked his summation of how in one easy stroke of the pen they neutered the NCAA with NIL bylaws. Another entity they had no business in and now it's unregulated chaos.

They “had” billions of dollars. LIV has no independent revenue.
Now all that money is going to the new entity that’s being controlled by the PGA tour.
