Playing two rounds in Nola this weekend. Between Bayou Oaks, TPC, Audubon, and English Turn which two are in the best shape right now?

Don’t go to English Turn unless you want to be disappointed with terrible greens. I work at Bayou Oaks, course is in awesome shape. Greens get beat up later in the afternoon because of all the play though.

Avoid the turn. Billy Casper golf destroyed that place. Very sad.

Joe Bartholomew, cheaper and in good shape.

TPC is probably the best layout/condition wise. Bayou oaks is always in great condition but the layout is very unimpressive. Not one notable hole. The entire project was such a disappointment.

I agree with M57. I have not played TPC but Bayou oaks is always in very good condition. However it is just so unabashedly boring. I have played that course multiple multiple times and can’t describe a single hole to you. Other than maybe the second hole that par three over the pond. It is much too expensive for the product you are getting. And also the pace of play there is always extremely slow.
English turn used to be the premiere course in the metro area excluding TPC. However it is insanely insanely hard. And now that the condition of the course has gone to complete shite which I can vouch for it is not worth your time because it is a little bit more expensive than Bayou Oaks as well. I have played it twice since it started it’s downturn hoping that there would be an improvement but it has failed every single time.

I can describe a hole for you at Bayou Oaks. There is a bunker between 280 and 300 at the top of the dog leg. In fact, I think I just described like 10 of the holes.

I second Joe Bart. Best Public greens in NOLA and the pace is always great. Also extremely playable you won’t lose a single ball out there unless you drop it in the middle of a pond.

Good aiming points and lay up spots for you

What happened to Lakewood?

You're joking, but that's how I play it. There's only a couple I can get in from the back. Makes life easy

Lakewood is a $40 muni and I just looked on supreme golf and tee times for tomorrow are $110 lol

Lakewood is a solid public track but you’d have to be a fool to pay $100 bucks for it

If you are a LA resident, you can book Lakewood directly through their website for $60/round. Like someone said earlier, that's about $20 more than it's worth, but it still a decent course.

I see this a lot and never quite get it. The front leaves a little to be desired but I think the back 9 is a great stretch of golf holes. 18 needs a hazard protecting the green, but otherwise I really enjoy it.

Its flat and wide-open. Very little imagination with the design. 2 is a good par 3 from the back tees and 13 is a legit par 4 with the water left and the trees making the right to left desired tee shot harder. It lacks a signature, standout hole which makes you want to go back and play again. If I'm being charged over $100 to play a golf course, there needs to be something memorable about it. I recall when it first opened the green fees were upwards of $200. Insane for what you actually experience.
I remember hearing rumors when it was being built about it becoming the Torrey Pines of the gulf region in terms of public golf. There was thinking that it would draw the Zurich away from TPC. I can't ever see that happening.

Well a lot of people think Torrey Pines is wildly overrated and not a very good design so maybe it is becoming Torrey Pines
