Received an email saying that Memorial Park is opening soon. There’s a Welcome Back Tournament on Nov 5, so hopefully it’ll be open to general play after that. Green Fees were not raised much, Weekend Fees are now $38.00 plus $15.00 Cart. 30 Day advanced Tee Times can be had for a $20 Fee.
Not bad for a PGA Tour Stop Course, can’t wait to play it.

Wasn’t it a lottery for weekend tee times?

Used to know a guy who played with a group that would wake up at 3 am and drive to the course to start the walk up list, then back to bed for an hour or so then back to the course at 6. Sometimes somebody would have beat them and they would be second or third. They feed off before the tee times started. But the round was less than 4 hours so they’d be dine by 10:30. I played with them a couple times and it was nice but the once every 4 weeks responsibility to start the list was not my idea of a good time.

I'll probably try to go play it next year sometime. Interested to see what Doak does on a flat featureless piece of land.

Has any of the original holes been kept or is it all new routing? Not that I ever played it before just wondering what the scope of the project was.

Yea, I attempted to play it a few times on the weekends and it was rediculous. No course is that nice. They should manage it better.

The lottery system is gone, now you can make a tee for a Saturday round on Wednesday morning by either calling the pro shop first thing in the morning or going online. Also, you can book 30days in advance if you’re willing to pay $20.00 fee. But with the fee a round of golf on a Saturday morning will still be under $80 to play a PGA Tour stop. I think the majority of layout stayed the same, so it wasn’t a complete overhaul.

Doubt it will be that great since the land had little to offer. I'm sure lots of sand traps added and maybe some water? Played there once and to me it was not worth the effort to get on!

You can keep the layout the same and change how the course plays by blowing up the greens and starting over from scratch. I'm curious to see how it comes out because it could be Exhibit A on what you could do in South Louisiana to make a nice course.

I think they were limited in routing because of the trees that were already fully grown, but I could be running Fried Egg pods together.

Don’t forget they added parking meters out there as well. Gotta pay for it somehow.

Now I can’t go putt in peace, I have to pay to putt

Pretty big overhaul. They have videos of each hole in Instagram.

Last thing I heard was people in Harris and immediately surrounding counties would get a local rate, but outsude of that the price goes way up.

I know its supposed to be open for 1 year before it can be a tour stop and since the 19 Houston Open has passed, i wonder what that does if anything to the 2020 date

Doesn’t have to be open, greens just have to have around a year of sit in, which they’ll have
