He didn't need to go for the green in 2, but he really trust that 7 wood.

More and more Pro's are hitting 7 woods now.

I use mine a lot. And a rep at PGA Superstore told me that they are selling a lot more 7 woods these days.

Makes a lot of sense with the lower spinning golf balls of today.

What distance is it for? I fly my 3 hybrid about 220-230 and my 4 iron about 205-210. I don’t see a need for anything between that..but maybe I’m missing something.

He knew he could go deep. Laying up brings spinning the ball back into the water with that Sunday pin location.

With the lighter shafts now and the longer wood distance, the 7 wood is taking the place of 3/4 hybrids. It goes higher and straighter than the hybrid.

I had a Cobra 7W 20 years ago. At 215 that thing was deadly. It is one of my favorite clubs I’ve ever had.

I was going to buy another one until I got my Sub70 irons. I bought a 4i that goes 210-215. It’s one of my favorite clubs now.

going to grab one and driving iron for this season.

Absolutely can't hit my 3 hybrid to save my life now that I'm not swinging so steep. It's an absolute duck hook no matter how much I try to open the club and address the offset face.

Does he carry it every weekend? Honestly don’t know. I do know most players have 17 or 18 clubs they can interchange based on the course they’re playing and/or the conditions.

Most hybrids have a draw bias. I can’t hit them. I hook the shite out of them. Get a UDI if you like your 5i.

Make it flatter. Hybrids come more upright than irons. Your heel may be hitting first closing the face.

Love my 4i and 5i.

Tried everything with the 3H. Really hate how short it is as well. Just feels wonky no matter how I setup.

If that’s the case, no doubt get a 3i

You mean de loft it? Feel like that requires quite a bit of shaft lean? Maybe I’m not following.

I’ll keep messing around with it but still want to check out a 7w and driving iron.

He talked about it on the NLU podcast. Said since the hole was playing downwind, it made more sense to hit 7 wood onto or over the green rather than laying up. 90 yard wedge shot would be tricky downwind to that front pin at the bottom of the ridge.

I love my 7 wood, BTW.
