I've been laid up with Covid the past few days and scanning the golf sites on my tablet.

I came upon a Maxfli Tour review which was pretty positive and how the testers were so high on the balls performance.

But a couple of guys said to stay away from any ball with the Matte finishes because they tend to pick up moisture from the dew and it really hurts the ball flight.

I have never played a ball with a matte color finish, could the be true ?

Seems like the developers would have picked up on this ?

MyGolfSpy did say during their ball testing that matte balls were affected more by moisture.

Must be true because Golf monthly said the same.

That is pretty crazy to think a designer would release a cover that would hurt it's products performance.

I guarantee you these manufacturers already have data on the sales from these. They most likely get more sales from the novelty of the matte colors as opposed to the hit they take on the performance of their novelty items.

My experience is they don't roll worth a shite on the putting green. That could be from the extra moisture like has been mentioned. But it's very noticeable with every matte finished ball I've ever rolled.

What was the company that had a bunch of them for years? Bubba used to play them. Don't see many anymore.

Most people who play these are going to lose them quickly enough where it doesn’t matter

I picked up a pack for shite and giggles just to see and used them this past weekend.. I'll be honest I wasn't impressed.. they didn't feel like a premium ball.. the cover got scuffed up fairly quickly and the only saving grace was I that I got some decent spin on it around the green.. for the money a comparable TaylorMade or Titleist would be the better option

Interesting.

I still think that the Snell Balls are the best bang for your buck and they perform.

I push cart it usually and I find tons of these on the course. Mostly Callaway.

Never gamed them, guess I'll need to give them a shot.. I normally use the Titleist Tour Soft.. or if I get a wild hair the TP5X

We each have are opinions ... yours is wrong.
All kidding aside, Maxfli Tour is a great golf ball and you can't get much better performance for the price.

I gamed the TP5s until I discovered the Maxfli Tour.
If you look at ANY golf review site, Maxfli Tour data is comparable to any of the top golf balls.
TXG did a head-to-head test with Maxfli Tour vs ProV1. Check it out ...

TXG Test

HATED the matte finish. They seem to get dirtier and I find them hard to track in flight.
Bought a box by accident and will not make that mistake again.

I could have gotten a bad batch maybe.. literally the 2nd hole using one I was having to hit out of the sand.. good strike out of the bunker walked up to it on the green and the ball was missing some outer coating..

I still have 3 sleeves left so I'm going to use them this weekend so we'll see..

Maxfli is a good ball. I bought the matte to try them out a couple of years ago and didnt like it. Play a lot of late afternoon golf and you cannot seem them in the light while the sun is setting, even in the fairway.

The original Vice Matte balls were the shite. Evidently they don’t make them anymore. I have a white one and a green one in my bag that I will break out for special occasions

I’ve found matte finishes pickup dirt/mud noticeably worse than regular finish. Here in MS/LA that is not good.
I’m trying some Snell and they are impressing me. Anyone else played them?
