Which is why taxpayers and stakeholders are wanting those courses closed. They don't make financial sense to anyone but you.

Well, by all means, lets close everything that doesn't make financial sense to taxpayers. Libraries? Gone. Museums? See ya. CATS buses? Good riddance.

There you go again, Mr Emotional. No one has said lets close all public courses. But, by all means, keep arguing with a strawman.

Nobody has said close them all, there’s just not enough rounds to go around for Webb and LSU to both to be in really good shape. Neither can live while the other survives.

My nostalgia for LSU died when they turned the original front 9 into an RV parking lot.

And I'm happy that Webb is in really good shape right now. It's not closing any time soon.

Carry on.

I haven't said it, but do we really need a multi million dollar library downtown?

Unfortunately, they are owned by different people.

I haven't played lsu in a long time, but when I was in school it was always packed

I don't know if it is strictly because of financial reasons or not but it seems like alot of people in the BR area like playing cheap crappy golf courses. Ones that, besides SM and BC, keep their courses in conditions that don't even warrant the prices they charge and allow people to do whatever the hell they please while not having any consideration for others on the course.

I heard this morning that the course is closing at the end of the year. Anybody else heard this?

Sucks, I know LSU runs it, but would much rather see Webb and Dumas close than LSU. Guess I'll have to drive 20 - 30 minutes in rush-hour traffic to go to Santa Maria.

Or you could go to Webb or Dumas. Webb is in much better shape than LSU to begin with.

Can't stand Webb, it's the worst layout I've ever played. Plus those apartments on Webb constantly have people threatening golfers and trying to hustle people for money saying their cars have been hit and they'll call the police if you don't give them cash.

But he's just going to get hassled by the drug dealers on the other side of the fence on #5 at Webb, so he won't go there.

Webb's current condition is nothing short of amazing considering what that course used to be. I never thought I'd see the day.

You must be unlucky. This doesn't happen to anyone else, but happens to you all the time out there. Aim down the right side on 5.

If you won't play Webb because of the layout then you shouldn't be that upset that LSU is closing.

Nah it's only happened to me once, but I'm definitely not the only one that's happened to from talking to the pro shop staff and people I've known to play out there. LSU isn't great but it's better than Webb plus has an actual driving range and short game area.

That's its only leg up on Webb in my opinion. Let's all be honest here, if you want to pay $18 for a round of golf you might have to fend off a drug dealer or two. It's just part of the game.
