Dumas will eventually close for a new entrance to the Baton Rouge Zoo.

It's a shame because it's always been one of my favorite BREC courses because it's never crowded

That course has just been so bad for so long now. Apparently they have a new guy in charge, but I think that course is too far gone to recover and even rise up to Webb Park level.

I appreciate the open tee times more since I moved up north. Courses are packed during the playable time of the year.

They messed Dumas up when they redid the course. I use to walk it but you can't get a drink or snack after 9 holes because of where the clubhouse is now.

Courses are crap here and going out of business because of open and cheap tee times. So if you love a course bc of that it probably won’t last. It just isn’t a great business model.

This is why it is closing.

Dumas doesn't have irrigation anywhere except greens and I saw those heads running one day. The heads in my yard put out more water. Doesn't matter who they get in charge... the infrastructure to have a good course just isn't there.

The LSU course should not be considered with Webb etc. it’s a university funded public course.

You can go eat shite if you think you’ll get better elsewhere.

What does this even mean? That university courses at other schools are worse?

I don't care where the funding comes from. LSU was a very nice course for a very long time until about a year ago, when it totally went to shite. This point isn't even debatable.

There was a time....a long time to he honest...where LSU was so superior to Webb that they wouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath. Those days are gone. Webb is a much better course to play because they have actually made the effort to improve it. I thought I would never say this either, but LSU is probably to the point where it needs to be shut down and turned into a parking lot.

I played Webb the other day. It was in shockingly good shape. I remember a time when having grass in the fairway was far from a guarantee. Now, it's borderline plush

I'll even give you up into this summer. I enjoyed playing it. The last time I went, I hit a ball that rolled off of the green and never found it. Hell, it might still be there.

I'm considering lifting my self imposed boycott of Webb if the conditions are good. Still not likely though.

Outside of Beaver Creek and Santa Maria, I am not playing BREC. It is just embarrassing that is what we are getting for all these tax dollars. Beaver and SM are respectable golf courses though. Considering the real estate Webb and City Park occupy they should be much better operations and much more respected.

Agreed. I've been playing there since the early 90s off and on. Much different today. City Park is also in really good shape.

course in any kind of decent shape at the moment or is it a goat ranch?

Worst maintained course in Baton Rouge. Will not play it again.

They went from maybe the best public greens in the Baton Rouge area to the worst conditions in 2 months.

We decided to go with Webb even though we are tailgating right by LSU, sad.
