Interesting. So they control players schedules and they actually own their likeness as well. Hmm

LINK

quote:

“… as part of DeChambeau’s LIV Golf contract, the upstart league had to sign off on the equipment deal and allow Cobra to use his likeness from its tournament footage.”

quote:

"LIV had a proposal since at least October and had been unresponsive, according to multiple sources."

Lol, wasn't that Mickelson main gripe about the Tour ?

Yes. The main gripes were “I want my rights and I want to make my schedule”

Well LIV creates your schedule and they hold your rights. It was all bullshite.

Varner and DJ pretty much the only ones that didn’t bullshite people

I dont think this is exactly the same. I think LIV is only claiming rights to the video they shot. PGA claimed rights to any video shot on the course whether it was by PGA broadcasters or not. For example, when youtubers play in proams, they cannot record swings of PGA players even though there is no TV.

I dont think LIV has any qualms with players/companies use footage from their tournaments they shoot themselves.

So you are saying LIV would allow cobra to come out during a tournament round and film? Not buying that

Yes, and based on the article that is the issue. Cobra was trying to use LIV footage, not privately shot footage.

EDIT: also, several youtubers have already attended LIV events and there were no restrictions on who or what they could record and publish to their own sites.

yes and PGA invites them to proams/tournaments too but with much more restrictions on what they can record and can't record.

Travis Miller from PGA memes goes over this on fore the people podcast. He said he is not paid by LIV except for some travel and can get any content he wants. He said the same cannot be said for the tour. It is a pretty good episode if you want to listen.

I used to follow Mr. Short Game but he became such a LIV shrill that it made me unfollow him and not watch him anymore. It was so obvious he was bought and paid for by LIV.

Pga memes is a huge LIV supporter and has a good relationship with Greg Norman.

He got unlimited access because of that.

Nothing wrong with a Company / Organization protecting it content.

But LIV is proving that the grass is not always greener.

Yea all these golfers made a deal with Saudis so that amateur YouTubers could make their own content at pro-ams

Talk about some mental gymnastics.

They went to LIV 100% for the cash. The money is going to dry up and LIV is going to fail.

The decision might be made to stop bankrolling LIV, but LIV’s expenses are couch cushion change to that group. It’s not going dry anytime soon.
