I remembered reading about that but can't find it anymore. You have a link to that story?

I’ll try to find it. Everything that comes up now is about the current merger.

Horrible news.

Don’t even understand why this was needed.

LIV was a massive failure. Nobody watched, the athletes were subpar.

PGA literally only did this because they knew the Saudis would just spend and spend and spend. They don’t care if they lose money.

I heard from someone close to the tour that there were 100 players that were leaving for LIV after the season. They were going to make it a legitimate tour and the PGA Tour was going to be left holding the bag.

LIv did fail. How do you think today became a possibility?

Claiming that LIV didn’t achieve precisely what it was intended to do is silly.

Is every merged entity a failure?

I am saying I think the Saudi’s won. Their goal was achieved. I 100% agree there. But LiV golf, the new startup league, failed. I don’t think that’s a controversial statement

No, it was a pretty big failure actually.

Is every merged entity a failure? This is such a strange take.

It's very likely that the LIV format will persist in some ways. Nobody really knows yet. But the people who got this all wrong up until now have new predictions out, and shockingly they believe the opposite. They believe that while the entity that runs LIV won, and the players that played in the events won, this is a loss for LIV because the tournaments will vanish into thin air.

But but… failure!

That’s another piece pride won’t accept. LIV wasn’t done trying to get players to come their way. Not just current big names but college kids too.

They’ve consistently been top 10 at majors since the split

If liv was truly about to get 100 more guys, why would they strike this deal? Seriously, explain that 100 more guys would be the entire tour

If that were remotely true why would LIV agree to the deal? They wouldn’t need the PGA tour if they stole 100 tour players.

Reminds me of the report that koepka and his team were going to get a billion dollars from Nike.

From Dan Rapaport's Twitter:

Asked a bunch of PGA Tour players: How will Jay Monahan survive this?

From one just now: "He won't. He can't."

He won’t be the commissioner of the PGA tour anymore, that’s 100% true

Yes. LIV with their 48 person fields we’re about to take 100 PGA Tour members but decided to merge instead.

The critical thinking on the LIV bot side of things is legitimately funny.

my .02c.

this is best case for everyone.

Saudi's essentially bought themselves a seat at the table, which is all they ever wanted for political clout.

PGA will be improved and still control everything on the surface.

hopefully we find a middle ground with tournaments. i still prefer the traditional PGA tournament style. LIV was on the fast track to titty shots for birdies and anal beer funneling.
