We could have done that and thought about it, and once we get in front of them, we slow down to snail's pace for payback. But are better than that.

No big deal, we are a foursome might be a little delay, but should smooth out over a few holes. Well one of our group no shows so we catch the group in front of us on hole number 3. Three men and one woman and it looked like a heated match, because they never let our threesome fricking through

I hate slow play as much as the next guy, but when has it ever been common for a threesome to be let through a foursome? Letting someone through is usually done when someone is playing as a single or maybe a fast twosome gets stuck behind a full group. Three people or more and that's a full group... you shouldn't be passing anyone... that would probably slow it down more.

Also a four hour round for a foursome is pretty damn good pace of play. Sounds like you just have no patience.

Played by myself yesterday and a 5 some let me play through while they were putting

I was in the fairway and they all marked their balls and waved me on. They went and stood on the fringe. Talk about an awkward shot.

Baw, they didn't do anything wrong. They played at a perfectly acceptable pace of play. You rushing them and thinking about hitting into them/skipping and slowing down is way worse than them not letting you play through. You're not entitled to play at the pace you want. Courses have an expectation for pace of play for everyone on the golf course, you don't just get to go faster because you had a no show.

if you’ve gotta play golf in 3 hours to play well I think you’ve got bigger issues baw. Sounds like your mental game needs some work.

That’s when you hit it 3 feet. Bat it in and say thanks.

Yeah, I know that isn’t the way it goes much, but it’s a nice picture when it does.

The “standard” 4 hour round is stupid. At many courses, especially in carts, you can play in under 4 hours.

Pace of play is understanding your place on the course. Keep up with the group in front of you. If you haven’t seen them in a while, you’re out of place and playing slow.

You clearly have no idea how handicaps work. A single bad round is very unlikely to move your handicap.

So, you're telling me that hitting a shot, then waiting five minutes, maybe more, then hit your next shot, rinse, repeat for 15 holes is fun. And then the marshal does nothing to abate the situation. Every one of you would pissed, especially when the humidity is 90% and the heat indices are over 100. The score card states, let faster players though. If a group is on your arse for a hole or two, let them through. How hard is that to understand Joe Biden.

Why should I have too. It's part of the etiquette rules of golf. I'm old I admit it and can't play like I used to. But I enjoy the game when no outside occurrences hold play up. We have a young man that is just starting to play, and I'm trying to teach him the rules of the game and the things you do to keep the course in good shape, like fixing divots on the green and fairways. Letting groups go through if you are holding them up. So, when we run into a situation like this, he's probably thinking, frick it, nobody adheres to the rules of the game, which sadly is true.

This thread is amazing. The rule is, if you aren’t waiting on the group in front of you, and a group is waiting on you behind you, let them go through. So many arse holes that refuse to let people through is mind blowing. It’s basic golf principles.

If you are waiting on the group in front then you don’t let them through because there is no where to go. Outside of being an arse, why wouldn’t you let them through?

What the frick is this? I’ve been playing golf 30 years and not once has pace of play determined letting people play through.

If you aren’t waiting and they are, you let them through.

No, that’s not how it works. You are not entitled to 3 hour weekend rounds at public courses. Sorry bro.

If a group is playing at a reasonable pace of play, why should they have to be interrupted and let your group through? Let’s say they are at a 3 hour 45 minute pace but your group is at a 3 hour pace behind them, you expect them to add 10 minutes to their round to let you through? What if another 3 hour pace group shows up behind them? Let that group through too? Just keep interrupting their round again and adding 10 more minutes? That’s bullshite. It’s not your course.

It’s different on week days when no one is on the course. Yea, let the faster group through. Its different when your pace of play is bad, yes, let them through in that situation too. It’s different on private courses too. But weekend public courses you don’t need to let anyone through if you are at a sub 4 hour pace. That’s how it works.

You are wrong 100000%. That’s some entitlement bullshite. If they are waiting and you aren’t, let them go.

Scenario: HottyToddy7 and his boys are at the course playing a 3 hour round at a public course on a weekend, and nothing but 1.5 hour round singles show up behind them. Let’s say this happens 10 times.

Y’all letting all 10 of them through? I didn’t fricking think so.

Yeah I am. Because it takes 3 minutes. We hit our shots into a fairway, let them hit, we all drive to our balls, let them hit into green and finish. As they are pulling away we hit our approach shots. It’s simple and takes very little time. That’s how it works.
