I'll buy your barstool breakdown bc your NLU breakdown is fairly accurate

ForePlay is a comedy podcast with an underlying theme being golf... and hockey...

Can I get a primer on Barstool golf content

not worth getting in to. It's basically just mildly funny guys bro-ing out, not any decent golf coverage and not worth your time

I don't know all of the barstool dudes but the golf guys seem to be the least liked on the platform

I don't think it was ever meant to be actual decent golf coverage. I mean shite a good bit of what they've done lately has been streaming themselves playing the new 2K21 lol

I like when they play golf, but today is the first time I've ever watched it on a computer, and the ads every 3 minutes on a 40 minute video are brutal

Their only good content is when they play with Kisner and he just rips into them for the entire round.

This! I love Kisner. And that video where he teaches Frankie how to chip has been extremely helpful for me

Same. That tip of moving your arms the same speed as your shirt zipper or whatever it was is a great tip. Almost impossible to miss hit chips if you tell yourself that.

I’m trying to figure how Riggs can afford to stay at Pinehurst and play during the COVID Quarantine.

He also did a big fundraiser that raised like a half million for all the Pinehurst staff and caddies that were out of work.

Can you link this or get it right because it sounds useful, but "shirt zipper" is going over my head.

Foreplay has a bigger presence in the golf world, they get close with actual pro players, interviews from players and people in the industry. They talk about course architecture all the time, idk where the narrative came from that they only care about content. They genuinely love the game even tho they suck. Obviously they don’t play on their own time as much because it’s NYC and their job requires them to always be in NYC. Riggs and Trent are the ones who started the podcast, not Frankie. He came on later after he attended the 2018 masters and appeared on the pod to describe the experience.

NLU and Foreplay are polar opposites when it comes to the way they talk about the golfing world. The vibe I get from NLU is that they are just negative about everything in the game whereas Foreplay puts a positive/funny twist on everything, other than what they call old man golf media. Being under Barstool, of course their target audience is the weekend hack who likes to have a good time on the course, drink a few beers and essentially defy all of the traditional unwritten rules of golf.

Their content is the only thing I’d say that is clearly better than NLU, but the rest is based solely off of opinion. I’ve watched and listened to a good bit of NLU and I personally find their podcast and videos more boring than Foreplay even though I still have a respect and appreciation for the way they cover golf. Maybe it’s because I’m young, idk, but I still like to get a decent dose of both of them. Sorry if TL;DR

This. All of this. I get why people don’t like them. They do sound like douchebag, stuck up northeastern assholes a lot of the time. But two of the 4 went to Harvard so that makes sense. I mean, you can’t hate them because their job has given them access to players and courses that most people only dream of. But they do provide good content regularly. The videos of them playing are great because, to me at least, they’re just like me and my buddies playing a round. Nobody is especially good and they talk shite the entire time which makes it entertaining. And the interviews they do are great because it’s not like the normal interview you hear from media members. They ask the questions I would want to ask and it makes the players seem more personable instead of the robots they normally are. The thing that is abundantly clear is they are all massive fans of golf and love the game.

I don't listen to their podcasts but I find most other content they put out enjoyable.

The Kisner chip video is always a good one to watch if my chipping goes to shite.

When he left and cried, then Portnoy made fun of him was pretty funny. I’ll look for the podcast clip.

Utube- starts around 1:30

Say what ya want about the Foreplay baws, they just got a pizza review done with Bryson the evening he wins the US Open and they had been on the ‘outs’ with as of recent.

I think both Foreplay and NLU bring their own unique things to the table. For me nothing beats the Strapped series though. Also, any word on the superintendent sending in his resignation?
