I belong to the breaking 100 club. Only took half a decade to get it done. The only thing that makes sense is that I have been watching lots of
YouTube videos about golf and playing nearly every other weekend or so for 2-3 months now. Shot a 98 at Dumas last Sunday. I shot a 102 at Beaver Creek about 3 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago at Webb, I quit my round after 13 holes it was going so bad. Golf is stupid, but frick I love it.

This is why I truly love this game. Your victories can be so personal to your game, and most people (unless they’re just being assclowns) will share and celebrate those victories with you.

Breaking 100 is a big milestone and congrats to you

Congrats! I finally broke 90 without gimmies or any mulligans and it felt great. I followed that up with a 96, but I hacked it all around the golf course that day.

I have to add that keeping it simple around the green and with my putting has shaved a ton of strokes off my rounds. I hardly ever miss a chip anymore unless I don't put enough behind it, and it makes that part less stressful. I also put my driver away until I can figure it out.

You might as well tell me about flying around the course. I have no idea how this feels

I try to keep it simple and play one type of shot. I grip down on the club and sweep it up there. If I can leave myself with a putt instead of another chip than I call it a success!

Chipping and putting has been above average lately. It’s my driver that pisses me off. Slice is really bad most of the time. Will go to range soon to work on something new. Started using my hybrid 4 off the tee and I hit it exceptionally well.

I still have yet to have a real birdie. Made a “birdie” at Webb on hole 10 about a month ago. However, it was with the “green” about 20 yards in front of the real green and the hole was about 10 inches wide. So I don’t really count that.
Came close when I shot the 98 at Dumas. Hole 17, my putt looked perfect, but it just rimmed out. Didn’t ruin my mood though.

Thanks.

My wife is aware that this has been my goal for a while now. She comes along sometimes to watch me play. I got home and showed her the scorecard. She put it on the fridge.

I've said it on this website 100 times already, but my game has improved with using my 3 wood from the tee. I may lose 30 or so yards, but being able to put it in the fairway instead of in the trees helps a lot!

Sounds like you've got yourself a great wife!

Mine bought me lessons. I don't get to play or practice a lot due to having really young kids, but she could tell staying on the double digit handicap plateau was bothering me.

I don’t remember the first time I broke 100 or 90, but I broke 80 for the first time in April and it was one of the best days of my life. My brother was there and I drained a 15 foot putt to save par on 18 to shoot 79 and we screamed and hugged like I won the god damn masters. Congrats though!

Congratulations!

Here's a blueprint to break 90:
