Playing in Sunday game today.

Hole 1 - drive down the middle , 50 degree 15 past hole, downhill for birdie , three putt bogey.

Hole 2 - drive down the middle 50 degree 20 feet past hole, downhill for birdie, 3 putt bogey.

Deflated and finish with 87. I suck.

Was the first putt long or short?

Did you putt on putting green before round?

Were you down grain? Or into grain?

Gold is cruel sometimes.

Generally, greens slope back to front. Club down from that distance. 15-20 feet uphill is better than 15-20 feet downhill. Unless your gap is larger than that.

I couldn't hit the ball 180 yards Tuesday in a scramble. Almost every shot was a chunk. It was like I had never played golf before. Weird game.

I hit a 311 yard drive on #9 to finish out a solid front 9 for me (which isn’t saying much as a 16hc). I don’t expect pars, but being 80 yards from the pin lying 1 is a good place to be no matter who you are. Proceeded to chunk two shots with my lob wedge which is normally my best club. 4th shot is a chip that gets me about 8ft from the pin which I sank to save a bogey. From 80 yards out lying 1 to 8ft bogey saves.

Just a frustrating game man. You won some and you lose a lot more, but the wins sure are awesome.

If there were a trophy for screwing up great drives, my trophy case would be full

couple of months ago I had a round where I didnt miss a fairway, I hit all 14.

The next day I hit maybe 1 the entire round.

Game is fricking stupid.

Heck, I once drove to the fringe on a 280 yard par 4 hole and was only 20 feet from the hole. Bogeyed it.

The next day

Next Day????
Hell, played yesterday and was a hole-to-hole adventure.
Perfect drive. Pitching wedge - chunk to short of green. Bladed recovery over green. Chip and 2-putt. Double.
Next hole. Drive in fairway. Approach to about 18 feet. Putt broke 3 feet and dove to the bottom of the cup. Birdie.
This continued all round. 3 doubles. 3 birdies.
Gotta love golf.

Sometimes it’s better not to use maximum loft which can make some players over swing.

Learning to knock down a pitching wedge or gap wedge with a smaller swing may help reduce fat shots.

Of course, this free advice may be worth less than its price.

I'd guess you can't get a woman to orgasm either. Drive for show and putt for dough. This is bigger than golf. Recognize it. You obviously can hit a great golf ball. I'd see a sports shrink, but there are also internet articles on how to eat pussy, which believe it or not will help your putting.

Or watch putting videos.

I know I’m stating the obvious, but uphill puts are preferable to downhill. Either get better at distance management, or practice more downhill puts…

True, if given the option. But a 10 foot downhill putt is better than a 15 foot uphill putt...proven by stats and analytics. At an amateur level you're not hitting every green, so playing short is guaranteeing a longer putt, which you will 3 putt more often. This has been proven at the tour level as well.

Short story, get better at distance control with your putting, and focus less on line. You will hole more and leave yourself easy 2 putts.
