I am looking to put a golf simulator in my shop at home. Looking to spend $4,000 - $5,000.
I am sure many here have home simulators or have experience with them so looking for any recommendations on best one to get for that price range.

SkyTrak would be great for that price range. $2k new or up to $1,500 used, then you can use the rest for your mat, net/screen, etc.

A friend has the Garmin R10 which is on the lower end regarding price point. Works well with irons but his driver numbers get screwed sometimes. With the additional mats, screens, projector, flatscreen and iPad he’s pushing 5k total. If you want better graphics you’ll need a gaming computer and that’s expensive too. But his set up is still awesome. Wish I had the space.
I think the Flughtscope Mevo+ for $1800 is great quality from the reviews that I’ve seen.

I want to do this so bad but every time I spend much time hitting off mats it screws up my iron game. I wish someon me would invent a mat that you can take divots from to simulate hitting off turf

Currently putting pieces together to do similar for a smaller budget.

Make sure you have 10’ ceilings, preferrably 12’.

I have a SkyTrak. It’s solid and can provide tons of data. Playing courses using WGT can be really fun but short game is very frustrating. I used it nonstop for several months but then picked up other hobbies and it doesn’t get much use now. I’d be willing to sell it if you’re interested. Have the protective metal case as well. Just make damn sure it is level or you’ll think you’re missing everything one way then go out to the course and realize that is not true lol.
My whole setup was less than $3k but I went cheap on the mat and net. I put a hole in the net (Rukket SPDR) after like 1 month of use. I also didn’t have a PC and projector screen so just used an iPad which made things difficult and tedious at times.
At your budget SkyTrak is going to be your best bet, unless you already have PC, projector, projector screen etc.

Lol they have that
I’ve seen mats that change turf color but none that actually alter the surface like on real turf. If one e it’s please send a link

Certain mats have more of a divot feel but I think your best bet is cutting a rectangle in a mat and using a hitting strip. Various companies make them. I was thinking of getting the Holy Grail Hitting Strip from gung-ho

I’d definitely go with a Skytrack at that price point. You’re better off spending the most on the technology you can within your budget. Skimp on anything else except tech. You can have the nicest layout in the world, but if it’s not accurate, you won’t use it.

Nothing against skytrack but a launch pro is a superior product if you are training to get better. Skytrack is solid if you just want basic simulation as its accurate enough but not to the level of foresight. Price for launchpro is 4k as it just went up but if you pair it with a carl's screen and a nice mat you are right at 5k. That is my current setup and I couldn't be happier. Only wild card is how advanced you want to go with the projector and gaming pc that can add another 1500-3k depending on if you go basic on 4k.

Get a used Skytrak for 1400.
Or even better get a used GC2 for 3000+
Get GSPro and Chromecast it if needed.
Play online and shite talk during scrambles for maximum fun.

I have the Flightscope Mevo plus with pro package ($2600) with a net return XL and a nice mat. I also have the netreturnXL projection screen and will hit into that at night with the projector on. My setup is in the garage and overall works well but I sure wish I had an AC in there.

Bushnell Launchpro looks pretty good for the cost. Haven’t tested the simulator golf yet but the numbers are really close to TrackMan.
