Hitting out of a divot

This is one of the worst rules in golf. Why make a player hit out someone else’s divot.

If pros could move their ball from a divot, it would take six hours to complete a round. They’d be calling for a rules official anytime the ball wasn’t on a perfectly flat lie claiming it is/was a divot.

Golf is not a game of perfect.
I fill divots. There are always more to fill than I have sand to fill them.
I try to toe in the front wall of any divots I see. IF the ball is pinned against the front wall of a deep divot, it is a brutal shot.
I usually don’t hit into, but maybe a couple of divots per week playing almost daily.

Call the rule before teeing off with all players. You’re welcome.
* yes. It is the worst rule in golf. Many clubs now have local rules in place which allow a player to remove the ball from a divot only in a fairway.

Yes, it sucks. But, the designation of a true “divot” is too arbitrary and subjective for the rule to work.
Sidenote: Does anyone else notice that, when a pro hits out of a divot, he seems to hit a great shot?

What makes no sense is you get free relief from a pitch mark in the fairway but not a divot
Regardless, PGA tournaments have preferred lies in play from the fairway at times. Why are people still so cavalier about moving a ball out of a divot?

Why not just make a pga rule anytime in the fairway you can move the ball 8”? The purpose of the fairway is to have a good lie. By doing this there is no arbitrary “is it a divot” as you can always move it 8”. And moving it that small won’t let you get a better angle or anything so who cares

I’ll be honest, I haven’t played a ball out of a divot in years.
Me and my friends all have an understanding that if you hit the fairway you can move the ball out a divot.
