I don't understand either. No bullshite, I was fricking around and said I'm gonna Happy Gilmore this ball I found. I hit it about 270 yards straight down the fairway. I then attempted to drive my good ball and sliced it into the woods so far it is now one with nature. I had a sad.

lol I still have fun so that's gotta count for something. Somehow this thread turned into a pissing match, maybe a one sided pissing contest.

And Rahm? What's wrong with his swing?

i was using matsuyama as an example of intuitive weight shift, not saying there's anything wrong with his swing.

But a powerful lowerbody that's "in sync" is key

you still haven't explained what this means.

quote:

And all of the power/speed comes from the lower body and the mechanics down there. That's not up for debate.

you're joking, right? ALL the power and speed comes from the lower body, eh? maybe the least thoughtful thing i've heard you say. a man with no legs can still throw a baseball, but if your logic is correct, a man with no torso would be able to throw it faster, because legs.

You literally have zero idea what I'm focused on when I swing.

you told me the symptoms of your bad swings, they are classic signs of trying to hit at the ball. that's not really up for debate.

quote:

All the guy said was that he's missing fairways and you immediately start giving pointers with no information at all

i've got plenty information. he sometimes hits the ball well and other times doesn't. assuming he's not fundamentally changing the way he swings the club, it necessarily means his rhythm is off. So, I gave advice on how to be cognizant of his rhythm throughout the swing.

quote:

My whole original point was that your advice was wrong/pointless

yes, and i explained why you were wrong.

You're confused about why I brought up Rahm.

You used "in sync." Not me.

Have you ever thrown a baseball with "power and speed" without using your lower body at all? Lower body means more than the legs. Or else I would have just said "legs".

OMG. You seriously think you know what I'm focusing on during a swing because I said I come up on my right toe sometimes.

Said every golfer ever. I guess they all have rhythm problems right? This is fantastic. Truly, you've made my night with this bullshite.

sorry for hijacking, just trying to help and got overzealous. i personally think you could benefit from what i said. but if you don't think so, that's fine, too. i hope you start playing better golf.

Spieth only hit it 4 times when he won

I only hit it 3 or 4 times today but I did not win

No all advice is welcome. I agree rhythm and tempo is very important. But it's kinda funny how you and ell are arguing. I think changing grip got in my head and kinda fricked my game today. It probably also fricked my rhythm too. I may try the butch tip tho that sounds interesting

Some of the stuff you spew on this board is crazy and flat out wrong. It wouldn't be bad if you weren't so cocky about it.

Honestly, I get bored mid round or start just having fun with my partners. It just becomes whacking the ball. Then, I refocus and finish strong.

I know the feeling. I'll catch myself just looking for abandoned balls or dicking around before catching myself and refocusing on the round.

One day? Hell try one hole to the next.

I make double from the middle of the fairway on 16 yesterday, next hole put one about 6 feet from the hole and knock it in for birdie.

the power/speed comes from your whole body working in sync, not one specific place. your hips intuitively move faster to get out of the way if the object is to hit the ball with more power

Power is built from the ground up. If you are starting the your swing with your arms that's incorrect. There's no argument there, the swing starts with the hips and the arms follow. You don't swing with the arms and clear the hips. You clear the hips and set the plane with the arms.

i like to see people play better golf, not one up or try to be right. but i've got family members who are/were pro golfers and have played my whole life. so take my info for what it's worth or don't

You may be good, but you have proven time and time again that you know nothing about the swing. Just the fact that you think you can diagnosed swing problems from internet posts without ever seeing someone's swing tells me how much you know.

Happens to all of us baw. But I've seen countless friends take themselves out of a round because they got pissed on hole 2 when their 3i from 240 came up short in the water.

Set realistic expectations before you start then manage the course. That's what I do.

Funny story - I forgot my golf shoes at home during one outing. So I decided to play in my flip flops. Narrow the stance down, llitle bit slower more controlled swing. Shot even for 9 holes. Thought I stumbled upon something so of course, the next couple of times I played I wore the flip flops. Stunk it up. Was never able to replicate what I did.
