I just signed up for their swing evaluation.

I’ve heard great things about this place and also horrible things.

I’m assuming it all depends on the coaches at each particular facility.

The problem I have with the Golf Tec teaching model, from what I understand they compare your swing and positions to pros. This was what a parent of a kid that took lessons at a local golf rec told me, He said the instructor would use positions that pros could obtain and try to teach to that. This kid played on our PGA Jr League team and he had a 3 knuckle grip on his left hand and his right hand was just as strong. I asked him about changing his grip and the dad let me know he took lessons at Golf Tec. YMMV

I spent 2+ years recovering! They totally tried to rebuild my swing to hit a push draw. I was about a 5-8 handicap at the time and have played a fade forever!!

I started shanking the ball and totally snap hooking my driver!! Got so bad I almost quit the game. I had several times when I would just freeze over the ball and couldn’t pull the trigger and swing.

I’ve gotten my game back together (7 handicap) but it was nearly 3 yrs of hell.

I don’t think they are beneficial for a single digit handicap. But are good for those that are new to the game or have a double digit handicap.

I’ve was taking lessons there for a couple of years. They teach a form of the stack and tilt method. For new golfers and higher handicaps they do a great job. They are expensive, you have to pre purchase a package of lesson credits, they were around $80/Credit which is 30 mins. So for an hour lesson is $160 which is expensive.

I did the swing evaluation also. As another poster said their benchmarks are basically the swing positions of professionals. I thought the guy who did my evaluation was knowledgeable and credible. The point of the evaluation is to get you to sign up for one of their lesson plans. I was astonished at the cost of their packages, starting around $2K and going up from there, and couldn't help wondering: who signs up for that? Seems like if you've got that kind of cash, you probably also have access to a private club and a pro who gives lessons. Also, like a lot of these places, a big part of their business model is trying to sell custom fitted clubs at inflated prices. It wasn't a bad experience, I just didn't see the value there for me.

Doing lessons now with them and so far not impressed. Working on my driver and yes they look at my swing as compared tor Rory side by side! Well I'm 69 and no way can do what he does. They also have an app which they upload your lesson with analysis. Well the app is crap and never uploads! I'm a 12 HC!

I tried them out years ago. The biggest benefit for me was access to the hitting bays with videos and watching your swing (before simulators became a common thing).

It prob has a lot to do with the coach but I really got nothing out of the lessons. I don’t even think I finished the package I bought as I’d usually leave thinking it was a waste of time. The lessons are only 30 minutes and the coach I had would chit chat about spots most of it. Everytime I’d try to get a swing tip or ask him about what I felt I was struggling with, he just said I had to ‘feel’ it, then would take the club from me and swing a few times while I watched him.

I felt their coaches at the time were just college kids and not actual golf pros.

This was my experience at the Baton Rouge location. Using the hitting bay & being able to review video were a huge help but the actual lessons didn't add much benefit. There was a lot of instruction without articulating what that actually meant.

I've got nothing but good things to say about the BR location. I was a high handicapper never breaking 100 and after a year and a half I'm consistently in the mid 80s. As others mentioned, the bays and video playback are helpful for practice sessions. I can see where a single digit player wouldn't benefit as much, but for others it's great if you want to invest your money and energy into improving.

To be fair…the movements used by professionals are often easier to do and easier on the body than what a 15 handicap hack is trying to do.

I went to the one in BR and it was alright. Jacob is a good coach and they do a good job of recording your swing and giving you things to work on. They also show examples from players who are on tour and it helps to make all of the moves make sense.

One complaint I had was that if you get a package of lessons, you have a certain time period to do them. I waited a month in-between lessons to go back, when I went to sign up my lessons were gone. I had 2 left that went un used.

I can only speak for Jordan at the br local. He knows what he’s doing. I was looking at comparisons to Tommy Fleetwood presumably because I overswing a bit. I enjoyed it and def felt it was worth it.

Better off going to your local course/club and taking lessons with the pro there

In my opinion, golf tech is more interested in booking more lessons than actually trying to get you right. From personal experience and other friends having similar stories, they are going for full swing reconstruction, single plane, data driven. For most that will require hours of lessons and practice.

I prefer a coach who is going fit a lesson for your swing. Minor adjustments like grip, stance, take away, etc. Golf Tech is trying to make your game perfect and that is very unlikely to happen even with tons of investment. The make it seem like you can play like a pro if you just take a million lessons and practice, but they leave out the part that natural skill is a major component.

For those looking to just shave some strokes, I recommend a local pro, they will be much more likely to coach you individually and not process you as a customer.

A 15 handicap could probably lower their handicaps to a 8 if they just improved their short game.
