Me and some friends from my weekend golf group are playing in our fist scramble this weekend. Anyone have some advice on somethings we might not of thought about?

If you don’t know who’s going to win, you will not win.

If you know who’s going to win, you will not win.

I’m always amazed that the last groups to turn in their scorecards often win.

Enjoy the day. Let the big hitters go after somebody puts one in play.
Use mulligans wisely. If all 4 of you miss a putt, you are likely to miss it again.

Approach shots with wedges may be a better use of a mulligan.

You will probably shoot in the mid 50s if there are mulligans and such.
High 40s\low 50s will win.

Some places “handicap” the score.

The best scrambles to enter have great tee gifts and modest prizes.

Doesn’t matter how well you play someone will sandbag the shite out of you. Just enjoy a fun day on the golf course.

All good thoughts. I played in a tourney last week at Carter. The course is in fantastic shape and we had a good time but I personally don’t really care for the format. I like to play a full round of golf. My ball, my game, all the good and bad that comes with it. I like the challenge I suppose. We “shot” 14 under and tied for 4th not that it mattered. The winners “shot” -19 cough-bullshite-cough. Whatever. It was for a fundraiser so it was better than not playing but I’m anxious to get back out there and play “for real”

Yeah I mean that’s what always happens. I honestly want to put a scramble team of four PGA players and see if they could really shoot something like -20 which is usually about what wins these, I bet they would not

Playing Carter from two tees up with mulligans bought in the clubhouse? I bet they would. On a US Open setup you are right

Every scramble I’ve played in I somehow run into a 4some of 20 handicaps who happened to turn into Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Rory Mcilroy, and Jordan speith. They hit bombs, stick it close, never miss a putt.

My advice to you is to get hammered and enjoy 4+ Hours with your friends.
