How many times have you shot great on the front but then get out of the game on the back? Maybe your tired, or loose focus on the game.

How do you stay focused the full 18?

Depends if the fade is physical or mental. I’m usually the opposite where I’ll take a bit to get into the round then will heat up on the back.

For mental, I keep the thought my dad gave me the first round we played when I was 10. It’s makes no difference how your ball got to where it lays right now. What matters is only the shot in front of you.

I usually do the opposite, start slow and do better on the back. Because I'm a fricking champion.

I think it depends on conditions, too. Unless you’re in tiptop shape and committed to proper hydration, it’s hard not to fade after 2-3hrs in the South La heat and humidity.
I faded on 14 at Coppermill today. I think the tee on that hole may be the hottest place in the golfing universe.

Happens. Last couple rounds I’ve birdied 3 of the last 4, but several before that I’ve bogied 2 or 3 of the last 4, just ran out of gas.

In this heat, not being too proud to take a cold towel from the Marshall has helped.

There are times i go into a mental lull then come charging in the last few holes to save a round. It’s the oh shite I’m not going to break 80 moment that snaps me back in it.

It’s hot. I fade around 15. Less trouble when it cooler weather.

I’ve been trying to drink more water and snack while playing.

Small cooler with ice/ Florida Water mix and cooling towel will do wonders in this heat. Played Friday around noon, drank a ton of water along with using the above mix, it was hot but never got that drained feeling.

I’ve found that not eating that burger or dog at the turn has significantly helped to not fade on the back. Heavy digestion makes it hard to focus, and it’s easy to crumble. I used to always get something to eat at the turn. Not anymore.

. Florida WaterFlorida water is an alcohol based cheap cologne that you mix in water and ice and use a towel to apply to the skin to help cool and refresh you when hot. As a kid growing up in the late 60’s and 70’s we always had a bucket of it in the dugout playing baseball. You can buy it at most drug stores.
