I don’t follow things as closely as many of you, but what was the rationale for leaving Keegan off the team last time?

As a follow up, IF his form is good, can he pick himself?

Because Zach Johnson wanted it to be a bro trip.

Yes, Keegan can pick himself.

Serious likelihood at this point Brooks doesn’t get taken.

We are going have to win how Europe used to. Ride our top horses to death and hide the hell out of the bottom guys

Keegan is already doing the right things. He played Thursday and Friday with Novak and McNealy. He needs to plan some kumbaya events with guys leading up to September. He needs to listen to his data guys. He just needs to do what Donald did leading up to Rome. Donald didn't have a choice due to LIV, but he didn't reach to get old dudes with historical Ryder Cup success.

Bring the players performing the best that give you the best chance to win, create an environment that brings the team together, lean on the home field advantage, perform.

I don't think the USA team is any worse than the European team. We are just used to the USA having a way better team on paper. Both are extremely front loaded. The difference this year is the USA has the home course. Don't do too much to upset the apple cart.

Koepka (especially) and Reed aren’t making the team this year….

Meanwhile, USA needs Bryson to be on the team

I’m all for Keegan playing tbh. He got robbed last year. We got arse blasted. What’s the worst that can happen? We get arse blasted again? Keegan is definitely a top 8 USA player at this point. If people want to get in, instead of Keegan picking himself, they need to earn it. Which hasn’t happened at this point. I’d rather see Keegan in this thing than JJ Spaun or 4th rd w no chance to win merchant Harris English.

Id take Tony Finau over most of those dudes. He has huge power and can make a bunch of birdies. He's had good experience playing these team events.

Im not sure what the chemistry with him is like. Wasnt there some sort of controversy with Tony a long long time ago? But that team chemistry shite is overrated. Give me the guys who can crush the ball, not the guys who have a crush on each other.

Also, my long shot prediction is if Davis Riley successfully defends his title at the Charles Schwab this week, he ends up on the team.

Finau can’t putt

The team isn’t looking great but maybe that’s a good sign compared to previous years when they were stacked.

He's currently #17 in the USA Ryder Cup rankings. An argument can be made that the rankings are flawed and he is better than 17th, but I would have a hard time arguing that he is definitely top 8.

There's a lawsuit pending I believe. Supposedly, some guy bank rolled him back in the day to get his career going in return for a cut of his winnings, and Tony hasn't paid.

If the tournament started this weekend, I'd go...

Scottie, Xander, Collin, Bryson, Henley, Mcnealy, JT, Cantlay, English, Berger, Akshay, Finau

Giving Akshay the nod because his birdie percentage is really high so he could be useful in fourball and Finaus length should fit bethpage

Can we please leave JT Spieth and Fowler’s garbage asses off this time?

I don't think it's a good idea to leave off one of the top 6 American players.

Rooting for Novak to make it. Dude seems to have the killer instincts and his game is on pretty good right now. Also probably in the minority but wouldn't mind seeing more new blood with guys like JJ Spaun as well.

No fricking chance. He's ranked in the top 10 of the OWGR, and he just won a signature event.

Spieth is a big maybe, and Fowler is a huge long shot.

Wat?

5th in the world in Datagolf and 5th in OWGR at the moment. I know he hasn't been sharp in the majors, but he's got six top tens in twelve events including three 2nd place finishes and a win in a signature event.

It doesn't really matter as he's going to get an auto spot on points regardless (he is 4th right now).
