Copper Mill

Played Copper today (played there recently too with a tournament) and noted the prices are up a fair amount from the past. Paid just about 200 dollars for the pair of us. Seemed a lot overall. Do not have the Copper card because I don't play there much but would be worth it.
Course was in good shape with good greens. The chipping range was not in good shape though with very high grass/weeds, perhaps due to all the rain.
Men's bathroom in clubhouse is pitifully dirty and has not been cleaned in years it seems.
I think for 200 dollars for 2 players, I would expect more --- minimum clean restrooms and a tightly mowed practice area. Another good idea would be some sort of drive net like Webb has to at least get some driver swings in before the 1st tee.
Had a good time though and enjoyed my round.
What say all on Copper?

I would never pay that much for copper
That being said, you could’ve gotten two copper cards today for the same price and used the free round that comes with it. After that it’s all money in the bank

Would never pay that much for a round of golf at a course with a T building for a club house and no range to warm up on.

I like Copper, but they are just taking advantage of supply and demand, and I can’t fault them for that. South LA is a public golf wasteland.

No senior rates on the weekend, only tuesday and thursday. Is that normal?

I’ll drive another mile and play Fennwood twice before I pay $100 to play CM.

Played today, absolutely not worth $100. Decent greens and layout but no driving range and little else to offer. There’s a better course for much cheaper 10 minutes away.

Truth. The lack of public golf courses in the Baton Rouge area allows for the courses we do have to price gouge.

It’s a $60 course. I like the course a lot, but the subpar clubhouse and lack of a range knock it down several notches.

The clubhouse doesnt bother me but a few yrs back they did not even have sand in the bunkers

Bunkers are nice now. They took the right approach and out money in the greens. Then bunkers. Now it appears they are fertilizing the fairways much more and replacing old bridges.
Why they cant install a webb type hitting set up for warm ups never made sense to me though.
They also dont do jack shite to Marshall the place

You absolutely have to purchase the Copper card even if you only play once in awhile. Copper is not a $100 a round course (however as others have stated supply & demand working here...).
It has gotten a lot better over the past year: greens, clearing out in some areas, bridges being fixed, fairways, etc.

Great to hear that it is improving. I live in Zachary and have played it a lot. the guy who took the driving range and converted it to houses should be in jail. He ruined one of the best courses in a hundred miles from here.
I just started marshalling at Beaver! Come on down

I thought I remembered there used to be a range there a long time ago.

Yup, unfortunately the douche that developed it was building a gigantic house in or around CCL and he was running out of money and he apparently sold of the range to finish it and I believe he still failed or got popped for something.. That's the story i was told by an old guy that used to marshal out there..

Hard pass. Greens at Fennwood are fantastic. That's it. I have better fairway grass in my backyard. And the course setup is bland and uninteresting at best.
Copper Card for $100 the first time you play that year, then it's $59 on weekends after that.

I agree with that but FW is still cheaper and quicker to play. They have about as many ‘challenging’ holes as CM. At least you get penalize at FW for hitting it offline with the driver. CM is wide open bomb and gouge. I think we paid $44 to ride 18 at FW a few months ago. There was only one other group out there on a Sunday evening.

This may sounds weird to say but I’m happy that I was into golf and played so many quality rounds at great courses before the pandemic.
2006-2019 was some great years for golf. Affordable places to play and not over 5 hour rounds.
I don’t play anymore and to be honest I don’t miss it especially after seeing on here how much it’s gone up in green fees the past 5 or so years.

You definitely need to be pretty accurate off the tee at FW.
