I did the driver fitting 3 years ago and was very happy, maybe except for the fact that the shaft I bought was $500 and so was the club head so it was an expensive driver, but worth it after using it the past 3 years. I’m headed back for a fairway wood /hybrid fitting and thinking of doing the putting fitting as well but a tad skeptical. It appears that they attach a device to your putter and measure your stroke then recommend a putter that fits it. I guess I’m wondering if anyone here has gone through it and if they can confirm that they made more putts as a result, and any other takeaways of note. I’m a good putter, not great but have always wondered about my stroke so looking forward to having it analyzed, but maybe skeptical that a new putter will make much of a difference.

I did a fitting recently and had a positive experience. Ended up with a Scotty Phantom X 12.5. Like any putter it has taken some getting used to, but it just feels so much more natural for my stroke when I’m hitting it. I maybe putted a stroke or 2 worse with it on my first round with a new putter so I’m sure it’s going to be an improvement once I have a couple rounds under my belt.

Thanks for posting. I actually saw that and I’m always skeptical of those types of reviews and their authenticity.

I did the whole bag fitting last year. I too was very skeptical on the putter fitting. But went ahead with it. Putting is the strength of my game and it actually improved my game. The 10 ft and in putts roll much better and on line. For me, it was worth it.

Did a full bag fitting this afternoon. It was everything I expected. I never realized how much went into the putter makeup. They benchmark your putter then the club fitter picks out a handful that fits the recommendation then ask you to see which ones appeal to your eye. Then you hit balls and choose. It was great!

I’ve already made back 10x that amount and the driver is a big reason for it..very happy with how it ended up

People always say this about club champion when it comes to shaft. But I bought a shaft from them and it was the same price from the manufacturer.

I always wonder who gets the worse deal, the guy who buys a driver with the free "premium" shaft upgrade that is actually a lower quality shaft than the one they make you think you got, or the guy that pays retail separately for an after market direct from the manufacturer. I guess it all depends on what you're after.

That Calloway that comes standard with Project X HZRDUS Smoke or the Taylormade with Mitsubishi Tensei Silver is meant to look like you are getting a shaft that costs $350 from the manufacturer, but the specs are all different and the quality almost certainly lower.

I guess not all of can be golf shaft experts. Why don’t you enlighten us on what we should do to get the best deal on a premium golf shaft

That passive hostility seems unnecessary.

You can do whatever you want. I just don't think the people who say buying an aftermarket shaft is a rip off have considered the slightly shady way club and shaft manufacturers team up to produce a shaft that resembles their premium counterparts but are actually a variation of it. It doesn't make the stock shaft upgrade bad, but I can tell you it won't be as good as the direct from manufacturer version. The value placed on the two is ultimately up to the buyer.

I'm not a golf shaft expert. Just researched a bit and saw some videos explaining the difference.

I just read your posts again and I'm pretty sure we are on the same side of this discussion, so your hurt feelings seem even more odd. I have an aftermarket shaft in my driver same as you.

I guess I misunderstood your post then. My bad. I take issue with people that use someone for their advice then scoff at their prices and buy elsewhere. I have a friend who used to own a bike shop and he would educate customers on what they needed and then they’d leave and buy online to save $50 or $100. He said it was so prevalent that he saw the writing in the wall and sold his business. And then a few years late Covid was the biggest year ever for bike shops...LOL

I got fitted for a putter at CC, great experience

Getting your putting stroke on a SAM is worth it for the fitting fee alone. You'll learn a ton about your stroke even if you don't get a new putter.

I was gifted a putter from my FnL several years ago and liked it and putted well enough. Got fitted and man it was sooo much easier to putt. My putter was too long, my toe hang was off too. New putter felt amazing, so much easier to control. I had a good stroke already, i think my overall score was like 78%?

Ok so I just completed the fitting this week. I was also getting fitted for 3 wood and had to hit a shite ton of balls to find the right setup, so was a bit worried that would affect my stroke. After getting warmed up, they mount this device on the putter shaft that adds a bit of weight and for me it felt like it wanted to close the face at address. Then they have you roll 7 putts at a cup about 8 feet away, putting off an exact mark each time. The device measures your stroke and then they review the results.

I have a slightly arch’s swing path and tend to start with a slightly shut face and then open it on the way back and then get it to square on impact. My stroke was pretty consistent, and based on it they suggested a balanced mallet, which I have. He did show that I tend to add loft and the toe is slightly up, so he adjusted the lie and loft and I noticed the difference immediately. He also adjusted a square head mallet from bettinardi, which I liked, but decided against buying it since I really didn’t notice any improvement over my current Cleveland Huntington Beach putter, so I passed on buying it, especially considering he cost of the 3 wood I was buying. Oh and the fitting fee was waived by the fitter.

Overall it was a good experience. My only recommendation is that they measure the stroke from short range (5 feet) medium (10) and long (20+) although their putting green isn’t big enough for that.
