Club Champion - worst club fitter? Stay away!

Took my 14 yo daughter to Club Champion for the fitting - was a pretty ridiculous showing - the guy immediately tried to upsell on everything and I’m not a great golfer but I am in sales and it wreaked of upselling just to make more…
Most ridiculous aspect was - he tried to put her clubs with a D3 weight which is way too heavy - I mean that’s rare for the LPGA… and he got testy when I suggested a c7 - c9
Also - he didn’t really take into account her heights or her dynamic lie and other readings off the trackman that are typically part of the fitting process
I know it was just one sales experience - but it seems the brand is just there to upsell golfers on shaft and other needless upgrades compared to what the manufacturer offers…. When I asked about the standard shafts offered by Titelist - he scoffed and basically said they are junk…
Going to a different fitter next week - recommended by her coach and she can actually hit off the grass rather than find irons from strictly hitting in a studio…

How many tournaments are your kids playing in each year?
Just curious…my kid has showed an interest in golf but we’re not ready for a tournament.

What location and who was the fitter?

Typically best to go with a fitter and not the brand. Lots of the big name places will have some duds.

Club Champion for the fitting
Sucks that you had a bad experience, but do not wrap ALL of Club Champion in that statement. You can find great fitters anywhere. You can also find crappy fitters as well. You expect that CC would have standards across all fitters. Not always the case.
The fitters here at CC in Orlando are exceptional and I have never had an issue. They even took the time to check all 4 of my putters to make sure that they had the same lie. That did this for free to me.
They have never tried to up-sell me any of the times that I have been.
Sorry that you had a bad experience.

That’s good to hear - others had good experiences mine may have been a one off - the guy who fitted us had the title of Area Manager … it was the worst

No - they have been seeing Mike McGetrick since last October- best coach I’ve ever experienced - the improvement has been exponential and the best part is I don’t have to get involved at all - he just manages everything and he has 3 daughters so he can deal with the hormones

The 14 year old will play in 13-14 for the year and the 12 year old will do 11-12
Burnout is a real thing so we really try to keep the tournaments under 15 for the older one and 12-13 for the younger one
I’ve had several coaches tell me that Emerson (the older one) doesn’t need to play in 30+ tournaments a year - just have her keep improving her game and score close to her potential in decent fields -
Some of these parents pay 60-70k to play in 30+ tournaments a year
