Can Jon Rahm sustain greatness?

It seems like golf in the past decade is full of guys who look completely unbeatable for 1-2 years then fall back to the pack. You don’t really see guys stay on top of everyone else for years and years and years anymore, simply because there are a lot of great players.
Jon Rahm looks unbeatable right now, he’s winning like every event he enters, his swing is incredible and very repeatable, and he seems like he’s got the determination. Hell I just watched him hit it to 15 ft from 173 yds out and look disappointed with the effort
That being said over the past 10-12 years we’ve seen runs kind of like this from Rory, Speith, DJ, Morikawa, etc…. And they all eventually fall back down to the rest of the elite guys, and then someone else rises.
Jon Rahm looks the most dominate of this group in his run, can he sustain it for years like guys back in the day? Or will he fall off/get caught by someone soon?

golf is hard. Rahm has been and is incredible. But I dont think I'd expect anyone to dominate for long given the competition level in golf. I think you'll see a mix of guys who are dominant. But no Tiger, Arny or Jack.

Obviously I’m exaggerating man…
In his last 10 events he has
3 wins
1 runner up
7 top 10’s
1 missed cut
Pretty damn good

Not sure, but he sure is swearing like a drunken sailor these days. The announcers are apologizing for his language all day. And he's playing well.

His game is super consistent, probably enough to continue racking up a bunch of top 10s and win a few more tournaments this year. Maybe even a major or two over the next few years.
There are so many other good guys at the top, that it is hard to project a level of dominance higher than that.
Scheffler for one has been right there with him, and the other guys will have their weeks when they're feeling it. So, to answer your question, no I don't think he can sustain this peak level for multiple years. But when it comes to consistency and a game that travels all over, Rahm is the guy right now.

It takes a mental aspect to sustain. Tiger had it. The others you mentioned got comfortable winning and with winning came outside distractions, thus leading to their inconsistencies. If he wants it bad enough he has to limit those distractions, he definitely has the game for it. He was robbed of the victory (maybe) during Covid too.

The dude has won a Major. 1.
Y’all need to chill. He’s going to lose that swing too. It’s way too violent.

What was that you were saying about him winning pretty much everything he enters?

Yea he struggled this week. Still 3 wins in his last 10 and 7/10 top 10s…

I mean he's one of the best golfers on tour but let's chill on the "greatness" talk until he does a little bit more. The most wins he's had in a year are 2.
Scheffler had 5x the year Rahm has ever had just last year.

Rahm is probably the best guy on tour right but I do get a kick out of everyone mainly no laying up acting like he is on an entirely different planet than everyone else. Scheffler basically has as good a year or even better and there are plenty of others right there too.
