Cameron Percy has lifted the lid on Cameron Smith’s intentions, revealing the Open champion is “gone” and will join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series.

Smith, 28, was irate when he was asked about his future in the moments following his extraordinary one-shot victory at St Andrew’s last month.

“I just won the British Open and you’re asking about that? I think that’s pretty- not that good,” Smith said.

Pressed on the matter, the Australian was coy.

“I don’t know, mate. My team around me worries about all that stuff, I’m here to win golf tournaments,” he said.

Yes, I invented the PGA Tour. Everyone knows that.

Considering your posts history it wouldn't shock me in the least if you believed that

But Norman said LIV was full.

That's not what he said, but you haven't been concerned with the facts to this point, so why start now?

Probably the guys at the bottom of the field that don't have multiple years contracts. This isn't a knock on them like you think it is.

When all this settles, the end product will be better for all involved. This is a very good thing and if it has to blow up before it's rebuilt, so be it. And no amount of whining from Justin Thomas will make a difference.

I disagree. I think the only losers in this are the fans. I’m not watching golf on YouTube on a Saturday and if good players go to LIV ill get a watered down product on Sunday.

It’s unfortunate, hopefully they work it out soon.

I killed the one on MSB, not because it's LIV related, but because it already existed here. Unlike the PGA Tour, we have no issues with LIV.

Golf topics should be here. Do we allow for the majors to have their own threads there, sure, but that's because those are larger events.

That one blew-up quickly and once it reached a certain page number, then it didn't make sense to kick it to here, as people were actively discussing it there.

No worries. I'd rather talk about it here anyway. I'm sure it would have somehow turned into a Trump/Biden debate there anyway.

This was pretty telegraphed. I think Adam Scott was rumored to be involved as well to form an all Aussie team?

Getting some teams together that have an actual identity will help legitimize the team element. There's also talk of an all Japan team led by Hideki and sponsored by Srixon.

Can see the team angle being interesting if they continue to go down that road.

How do they form an all Australian team if they draft for teams?
