Boom boxes on the golf course - biggest pet peeve?

I know this is a popular thing with the young guys, and I’d never be ‘that guy’ to tell them to turn their boom box down or off, but is this anyone else’s pet peeve?
I enjoy the nice peacefulness of golf and this just ruins the whole experience. Not to mention when trying to locate balls or ask a question nobody can hear what anyone else is saying.
This, and someone walking off the green and back to the cart before everyone in the group is finished putting out.

I hate this as well. Why do these people think everyone else wants to listen to their shitty music choices while on the course?

I mean music is fine - if so loud people can’t hear when looking for a ball something is wrong. Also, why the frick does it matter if someone walks back to their cart before everyone is done?
Just play the game and enjoy it. If someone walks off the green or tee box before I’m done, it doesn’t even register to me. I just don’t care.

Wow, and I thought I was old (58).
Moderation. As long as the volume is not insane, or country / Rap, then I can live with it.

It makes me feel they’re in a big hurry...so I hurry my putt and usually miss it. I could care less if they’re paying attention or not. Just don’t start walking off the green until everyone has holed out.

You should stop feeling hurried. You didn’t miss the putt because someone walked off the green - I’m sorry that’s just not how that works.

I’m 45 and a lot of people think I’m a stickler for etiquette. I even don’t mind music on the course. As long as it’s not gangsta rap or techno and the volume is an acceptable level.
And you should definitely stop saying “boom box” lol. Nobody uses a boom box anymore, Boomer.

nobody wants to hear shitty music and most people that do this play shitty music.
Also most don’t bring a quality speaker. So it sounds like I’m listening to the radio on Paw Paws old farm truck playing AM.
Don’t care if you walk off the green while group is putting. Especially if it’s to help play speed up or grab some beers from the cart girl.

Just put a speaker that attaches to my bag for rounds I walk. Maybe that means I'm young or disrespectful, or both.

I love hearing bro-country from 3 fairway over!!
I listen to music sometimes, but always ask the group before turning it on.

If your walking I probably won’t hear it very often.
It really doesn’t bother me unless it’s in the cart I’m in. Happened twice someone wanted to play music. After a few holes I asked them to turn it off. The worst part was the terrible sounding speaker.

I respect the older groups playing early and don’t want to piss anyone off. If you come at me the afternoon when I’m playing crazy fast, then I will argue with you.

The group of people I’m willing to play with don’t care about music. Even in club tournaments. It’s not loud. I always ask if paired with someone I don’t know well. As far as walking off the green I don’t care about someone doing it and I also do it myself every now and then for various reasons.
I’ll go as far as to make sure I’m not paired up with someone for the second day of a club tournament if they had problems with either of those because I just don’t want to play with people who are concerned about these things.

I absolutely agree. It’s the equivalent of talking in a movie theatre or drunkenly screaming in a nice restaurant.
It’s part of the sport. Concentration and relaxation in a shared space. Selfishly playing your music through a shitty speaker ruins that and alters the natural state. It’s a shared space we all participate in. If you wish to change the natural state of that space do so in a manner that doesn’t effect others. For instance, wear headphones and listen to music that way.
There are many old etiquette rules like walking off the green or shot order that aren’t necessarily needed but peace and quiet is absolutely necessary.
I don’t understand why these people don’t just wear headphones. Of course, I now wear noise reduction ear plugs on the course.

I have a small JBL speaker that I hang from my bag. My personal etiquette is that if I can hear it from the cart while we're on the green, it's probably too loud.

Showed my dad the speaker today and he asked me if I was starring in a remake of caddyshack. must be an age thing.

It’s a big deal with most younger guys at my club. I hang a jbl clip speaker from my push cart when I walk and if in a cart carry a bigger jbl speaker.
I don’t do it when playing with non friends or in tournaments

Not an age thing. I’m 32 and if you play music on the golf course I judge you as trash.

If you want to listen to music on the golf course, get some headphones.

Biggest pet peeve is slow players who do not have enough awareness to either speed up or let a faster group play through. Nothing else comes close.
