Live in the neighborhood. I saw a white SUV with a business logo for "Jerry Pate Turf and Irrigation" riding on the driving range. Hopefully this means work will begin soon.

The Driving Range and Club House were suppose to be open May 1. Nothing has been done yet.

Anyone have any updated information?

I live there too and all I know is that ....nothing. I'll believe it when I see it.

That’s a big company so that could be a good sign. I’m definitely not holding my breath though.

I would think a Company as big as JP, who has designed and built some of the best courses in the gulf south(Waverly, The Preserve and Kiva to name a few) is not sitting on the driving range as a accident. If they are indeed going for a return to a high end course, that company profile fits the bill.

I would of gone with Crenshaw's group. Have played several they renovated and do a top notch job. Sam Rayburn is one of em.

Me too.

The current ownership isn’t instilling a lot of confidence this far.

Have you played Rayburn recently? We had a group play in March, and it was nothing to write home about as far as conditions go. We had a good time, and the layout is fine, but the course really wasn't in great condition that early in the Spring.

one thing is clear: his target is not locals. don't blame him--hasn't really worked thus far (could have) and i did get the invite, but it's a black hole as far as info and people who live on the course are concerned. Still wish him the best.

I think the Bluffs fits JP more than CC. It's is also probably a fraction of the cost to get JP.

Yeppp. Same here

Have emailed and received no response. Wasn’t going to be cost effective Vs Beaver creek for me but I was seriously considering a full family membership regardless

If I had to guess the JP truck was out there looking over irrigation. His design company is different from his equipment/irrigation company.

I mean, the sherif did say they cut a deal to pay down the 36k he owed the parish lol. This guy is starting to look like he’s not a very savvy investor. If you can’t come up with 36k then how are they going to do anything at all with the course? The course clearly needs at least a few million dumped into it.

I would guess 1 million to get it to where it was and another million for updates and improvements to the course and facilities. That’s not including payroll, utilities, inventory, etc. No way he can raise that amount of capital through dues or HOA assessments. It will have to be from private investors and if any investors give him money for a club with that kind of track record, then they deserve to lose their money. Great idea, very poor planning.

If he would actually open it to locals and cater to the courses potential with a moderate budget, it could be great.

Fennwood CC has amazing greens and they are 160 a month family membership.

I'm afraid they are way past 1M to bring it back though. It'll be cutover before too much longer

More bull shite.

The article is dated June 15, 2023 and states golf course renovation will start ‘this summer’. Lol. It’s mid June and there’s not a single piece of golf course equipment anywhere near the property.

If he paid $4.5MM for it, maybe TDGB can join up and buy for $2.5MM in a year! Yay!

Buddy at work played in their 3 man scramble and said greens are best in BR and he’s a member at UC.
