Years ago when I actually was a decent golfer I was playing in the first flight at the Island in Plaquemine. I shot 78 on Saturday and was leading going into Sunday. Parred 1 then went to the second. I’m sure a lot of you know the par 5 second hole. I pulled my tee shot to the left side just inbounds but close to the wooden fence. I tried to swip at the ball and whiffed twice. Took an unplayable and sliced the ball into the water on the right side. Went bad after that. Finished the hole and told the guy I had a 12. He said that he counted 13. Lol. Whatever msn.

I was -3 standing in the middle of the fairway of #13 at The Links. Decided to hit 3 wood even though fairway wood from the turf is not my strong play. Pushed it out into the field OB. Got pissed. Finished with a 76. Still mad.

Playing in the 2001 US Junior Am.... made match play as the 47 seed and my first match was against a senior In high school who was headed to GT on scholarship... tons of college coaches following to watch me play him... I shoot 31 on front and I am 4 up... turn to the back 9 and shoot 41 and lose 1DN... never felt more helpless in that parking lot after the match.

Still got a full ride to U of A

I shot 71 in the first round of the Texas 5A state championship. Led 15 guys that went on to play D1 golf (and 4 that won Tour events).

Shot 93 in day 2.

In 96 watching Greg Norman lose to Nick Faldo in the Masters. Norman started the Sunday off with a 6 stroke lead. It was a slow and painful death.

A good friend of mine was at Q School Finals many years ago. He'd played really well for 5 days, got to the last hole, and knew he was right around the number needed to get his PGA Tour card. Flares his tee shot right into a penalty area. Thinking he needs a par to secure his card, he tries to play out of the hazard and takes 3 to get out. Gets to the green and makes 8.

He needed a 6 to secure his card; had he taken the drop, he makes no worse than 6 and likely makes 5.

I was 4 under coming into the last hole in a junior tournament. Blocked my drive far right into the trees. Double bogey to shoot 70. It was my home course and I lived directly behind the 18th tee. Played that hole a thousand times.

I've still never broken 70.

Not really a choke, but I was a HS freshman playing in my first match against a guy who was going to play golf at Alabama.

I was 1 under walking up the 18th fairway and there was a small crowd of coaches, parents and other players around the green.

I hit a hosel rocket dead arse right. Luckily, my ball ended up in #10 fairway and I managed a bogey.

I wouldn't say biggest, but last week at city park south course.... hole 12 par 4 about 340 yards from the blue tees... I hit a monster drive about 10-15 yards away from the green. The guys on the green looked at me when I got up there and went
"Was that your drive"
"Yeah it was"
"Damn man thats awesome"

fast forward to the next tee box, the guy asks me "What did you end up shooting on that hole?"
I tell him "oh you know, double bogey"

that would have been a perfect time to lie

Similar story here. Parring 18 would have given me a 76. Drive was a little off line but not terrible. Second shot recovered. 3rd shot just short of the green and I pulled a club that I should not have pulled. Bladed into the sand, two strokes out of the sand and 2 putted to land me at an 80. That one hurt but I still won the round in my group that day.

Day 2 of the club championship. I am -3 thru 13 and -5 total. Go into an hour rain delay. Fat my 4 iron on 14 after the delay and make triple. When I say fat I am talking about one of those where mud flies on your rain gear and gets in your mouth fat. Play the rest -1 and get into a playoff. I birdie the first playoff hole for the win.

Me this past weekend. I play with a friend that is a good bit better golfer than me. In the 40 or so rounds we have played together, I've beat him twice.

This past sunday we get to #18 at Beaver Creek and I was leading by 3 strokes. He snap hooks his drive onto the #10 fairway. I hit mine pretty straight but it is headed for the right bunker where it hits the front lip of the bunker and bounces backwards and is up against the lip in the bunker. He hits an unreal second shot from about 220 yards about 15 feet from the hole. I punch out of the bunker and then proceed to thin my third shot over the green. I then three putted the green for a triple bogey and he two putts for the tie. He almost made his birdie putt to win outright.

It was a long drive home to say the least.

In HS, dad and are waiting to hit on 18 tee. Group ahead is chasing errant shots.

Dad informs me that I am -2 on the day. I honestly had no idea.

I then begin to question my strategy and put the 3-wood away for a 3-iron. I pita terrible swing on it and shanked it OB.

Teed up another and shanked it. Went to the bag and grabbed my 3-wood. Crushed it dead center about 265. Next shot, 9-iron to about 8 feet. Drained the putt for 8 and a 74 on the round.

You would have thought I'd shot 100+.

He never made it to the PGA Tour. That was as close as he got.

He's still playing as he nears 50, mostly on minitours and the occasional Korn Ferry event. He did play a few PGA Tour events, but not many.

He's probably best known for 2 things- the Q school story I told and being sponsored by the Fresh Prince, Will Smith, for a while.
