Driving in from BR, looking to take my oldest son, 20, to play at grand bear. Any other recommendations, anyone played here or any input. Don't mind a 2-2 1/2 hour drive

My parents have a place in BSL. We did a mini guys golf trip there last year. We played Grand Bear right after the senior tour event. It was in great shape. The next day we played The Preserve. As nice as Grand Bear was, I think I liked the Preserve better. It is pretty much in east Mississippi, though. The last day we played at The Oaks, which is not a destination course, but we enjoyed it for the price.

Grand Bear, Preserve and Fallen Oak are the best courses in that area.

Fallen Oak's the best one, but it requires a hotel stay.

Would definitely recommend The Preserve. Probably my favorite on the coast, having not played Fallen Oak yet.

I will also reaffirm the suggestions of the Preserve. It's one of the nicest courses I've ever played.

Hattiesburg has some of the best courses in the state in my opinion

Canebrake
Timberton
Shadow Ridge
Pine Creek

Despite having one of the stupidest Par 3s on earth the preserve is great. Grand Bear has an amazing club house and is very secluded. I would thrown in Shell Landing or Windance as just a notch below but excellent value.

The Preserve is nice, but it is not worth the $180 green fee they charged last summer.

Shawdow ridge is a goat ranch. Literally would not play golf if that was where I had to play.

I’m a member at HCC and Canebrake is manicured just as well as HCC. Just depends on the style of golf you like. Canebrake is longer and pretty wide open. HCC is shorter, tighter, and requires you to work the ball both ways off the T or you’re hitting long irons into greens.

Mossy Oak is great as is Old Waverly right across the street. Two completely different golf courses one being a links style and the other a typical southern course. May be a bit far for OP to drive to north MS though

Get cheapest room possible at the beau and go play fallen oak. Best course in either LA or MS by far.

Since when?

It’s been about 6-7 years since I’ve played it.

Biloxi has a nice mix of courses and different price points.

Fallen Oak - Must stay at the Beau
The Preserve - very nice and always top condition
Grand Bear - always a great round
Shell Landing - improved conditions, good value at times
Windance - Older layout but nice and price is good
The Oaks - tight but good value
The Bridges - Not a bad option but some dont like the tight layout

It’s shite. Bare spots all over the fairways. Just shitty. Played it begrudgingly a couple weeks ago with a buddy. I’ll never go back.

Pine Creek is never cart path only but it’s not a very nice course.

I play Timberton and HCC 3-4 times a week and they keep the courses nice.

Dancing Rabbit is also a nice course a little further north.

I've played Fallen Oak and Tunica National. Both are excellent. I've heard that Dancing Rabbit is pretty nice but I haven't played it personally.

Been awhile but I really liked Dancing Rabbit's layouts. Service is beyond pathetic and is the reason why we haven't been back.
