I’ve played twice at Wolfdancer and really enjoy it. It’s 20 miles east of Austin

Played Falconhead last time I was there. It was pretty decent.

Ranked nicest to least nice (imo)

Wolfdancer - 30+ mins from downtown. Hill Country Hyatt is a nice resort. Resort fees.

Falconhead - not too far from town, probably 20 minutes. Good layout

Grey Rock - semi private, but easy to get a tee time. I never thought it was all that good. Just OK.

Morris Williams - public course. I think the best of the four immediately near Austin.

Jimmy Clay / Roy Kizer - two public courses on the same site. Kizer is more links style.

Lions - 5 minutes from downtown. Short course. Some people like it better than Clay / Kizer. Nostalgic to play it before UT demos and develops that land.

Tons of courses north of town.

Would love to play Wolfdancer but Im meeting up with my buddy still in medical school I don't think he will want to pay that.

I see ShadowGlen has some pretty good reviews online. Anyone ever played there? Down between there and Falconhead

Worth the drive.......
Delaware Springs in Burnet.
Greens are in great shape and very little traffic out there.
Austin area.
Star Ranch and Teravista aren't bad.

ShadowGlen isnt exactly "down between Bee Cave and Bastrop", but its good enough and cheap enough to play with a friend. Personally prefer Morris Williams over Shadow Glen

Cheesy has good info.

I have a membership at Teravista and there 3-6 days / week when not traveling for work (mostly on range), but it's several exits north of Austin.

I most recently played at Mo Willy last month and was in good shape for green fee. Lions and Mo Willy are great for muni nostalgic factor and value.

I'd also look in to Avery Ranch. I live equidistant to it and Teravista and both part of my membership group. Green fees are all over the place, but worth evaluating and might be close pending where you are staying in Austin.

I've played it. It was in good shape and not too expensive. It wasn't really all that memorable, but I'd play it again.

Wolfdancer is nice but not worth 180$.

GreyRock, Falconhead, Avery Ranch, Star Ranch are all nice and will run you about 75-95$ a round depending on time.

Barton Creek if you want the nicest course around that public could play.

Morris Williams is the nicest public course.
Lions is in the middle of the old part of the city which is cool but conditions are not great.

Good luck getting a tee time. If you do, look forward to a 5 hour round. Too many people. Reason I quit playing.

If you’re going to drive all the way to Delaware springs then Legends LBJ is better to me. Crystal Falls in Leander is ok, a little tough

Yeah no. Not even close. Star Ranch is links style in a cow pasture so no.
Avery is a really nice course.
