Anything as close as Camp Creek to Alys Beach? Trying to find a new course this year.

Don't want to go into Destin/Sandestin, trying to stick around our place in Alys as much as possible. We have a slot at Camp Creek, but play it every year and a couple guys playing this year suck (15/16 handicaps) and I think that course wouldn't even be fun with that level of difficulty.

Looking for ideas! TIA

The Raven and Burnt Pine are good tracks...Not really going to do anything for the level of the other players but it's all resort golf down there, so you won't get too many Webb Parks in that area

Those are Sandestin, looking for something a bit closer. But I do love Burnt Pine.

Not looking for Webb Park, just the last couple of times I've played Camp Creek it has been quite challenging. I'm a 3 handicap and it can chew me up. These guys would lose 2 dozen balls

I might just say frick it and do it, was just hoping there was something else really close.

Think I might try out Shark's Tooth but I heard it is fairly unremarkable for the price.

Certainly more of a drive, but Windswept Dunes is a good course, uncrowded, more forgiving than Camp.

If i'm going Destin area I will bypass all other courses for Regatta Bay. I find that course very relaxing and slightly less challenging than the rest in that area. Haven't played Camp Creek so I can't speak for that course specifically but

Regatta>Raven/Indian Bayou/Kelly/Burnt Pine

Friends' have a place in Alys and they let us use it whenever, just pay for the cleaning. Too rich for my blood. It sure is nice to have rich friends though

If you got a time at camp creek, couldn’t you get one at sharks tooth? Not that it’s any easier.

I live over here now and I am a member of watersound. So I played both pretty extensively. Camp Creek is a prettier course. However, it’s not any harder than sharks tooth. At sharks tooth the challenge is getting to the green. At camp at the challenge is once you get to the green.

However, to say the sharks tooth is unremarkable is unfair in my opinion. It’s a very nice course.

The people saying Regatta Bay are spot on. One of my favorite courses.

I’ve never played so I appreciate that opinion! I’ll run it by the guys.

But in all seriousness Windswept from the tips is the hardest course in the panhandle by leaps and bounds. In fact it’s on par if not a bit longer from the two tees as most PGA tour events

There wasn’t anything subtle about it. Then again, if I could afford Alys Beach I’d probably brag, too.

Windswept Dunes held the title of the Longest Course in Florida until Doral got pissed and added a tee to reclaim the title. I believe Windswept may have reclaimed the title by doing the same.

For a group that may have a few hackers, Windswept Dunes would be a good course to play if you pick an appropriate tee. Pretty generous fairways and not many hazards that I recall. Length and wind are the course’s defenses.

Played Camp Creek on Tuesday; it is in great shape. The member I played with said he likes Shark's Tooth better. Have not played ST so I'll take his word for it.
