Is the mid am handicapped? Just looked at the 2023 results and one guy blew the field away. Only five guys shot under par and the winner won by 10 shots at -16. Seems like he was in a different league that most anyone else.

No. mid am refers to age above 25. There is a separate net am that rewards the most cunning sandbaggers at a different time.

The guy winning by 10 made me think that's what it was, someone sandbagging

But looking at previous years results, this Greg Berthelot dude is just a baller. Guy has won the last two and finished 2nd and 3rd the previous two years.

The LGA created their own rules so now it’s 21 that’s not an active member of a college golf team.

USGA is still 25

Is +5.9 a good handicap? It seems good..

He withdrew from the mid am since the US Am starts Monday. I’m sure the field is a little relieved.

I’ll predict John Humphries as the winner.

Great player. Kind of a plug though. He has a wild warm-up routine.

Heading up tomorrow. Just gonna enjoy 3-4 rounds at the best course in the state and not worry about much else.

Hit em good bro! Played up there this past weekend. Greens are very good and are rolling a very good speed. Rough is not super long, but it’s thick! Your golf ball will sink which makes distance control brutal. Just hit a bunch of fairways!

Does the mid am still have qualifiers? If so what kind of score does it take to qualify? What’s the handicap required to enter?

It did have qualifiers like the am, but they couldn’t fill them. Now it’s just max 8 handicap first come first severed.

For squire it opened at midnight and had about 100 people signed up in 30 mins. Full field by 9am. Other years it takes a little longer.

4.7 GHIN's throwing up 113's, impressive

I played out there with a scramble event and I can easily see how things get out of control with swiftness. But a 113, there is more to that story.

If you check some of the GHINs, lots of guys only had 1 round posted this year or even none. Anyone up to an 8 could sign up. Not hating on anyone. 3 rounds at squire for $250 is a great purchase.

That being said, the committee knew what they were getting. All “native areas” were played as lateral hazards to help speed things up. Otherwise, it would be lost balls and re-teeing.

Man, that is lame! They’ve never done that there in the past. At least not in 2012 or 2014. Squire is generous enough off the tee to not need that.

How was the course?

It’s perfect. Staying with a member who’s been here years and he even said it hasn’t been this nice in a while. Greens about an 11.5 or 12. Not as fast as the Am a few years ago but still fast enough to be punished above the hole.
