The only way this doesnt flop from an attendance standpoint is to have one of those rare February bluebird days.

No one goes to these anyway, so it won’t make a difference

The only option is bayou oaks but man that course would be absolutely stupid for pros. We are talking winning score close to 40 under

I’ve always said the way to make bayou oaks tough is push the tees back, grow the rough up, and really firm out the greens.

Playing in February pretty much eliminates any chance of growing up the rough and firming out the greens.

Only chance the course would have is they move the tees way back and get some cold wind off lake P.

Supposedly, English Turn has prior commitments which is why they are probably out.

It wasn't mentioned in the article but he went to English Turn as well. The are definitely not out.

if I were him when I was there, I would have gone to that greenside bunker at 18, taken some clubs and thrown them in the pond to release some 30 year old frustration from that hole.

Ok. Then they should just host it at TPC

Again, the PGA Tour owns and operates TPC Louisiana. Come on.

Wouldn’t help Louisiana but Fallen Oak is a championship track and not that far from NOLA. A tournament there would also pull from the entire Gulf Coast.

It’s between City Park and English Turn. LIV offering $10 million and it will definitely take place in March.

At tournament in February in New Orleans will more than likely be on an overseeded golf course. Rye grass at 3-4" is narly stuff. Greens can be firmed up by rolling and reducing water. plus that time of year, they are pretty slick and fast anyway.

I thought they only wanted to be here for the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl is February 9
Mardi Gras is March 4

They did an international swing in March of 2024

ETA: they’re looking at doing Adelaide in February so maybe they’re pushing the international dates up. Stay in US before the Masters

Late March in NOLA is honestly probably as peak as you’re going to get as far as conditions. Not too hot but you’ll start to have some growth on the course coming out of winter.

You’ll also miss Mardi Gras but get in before the big festivals & events. Hogs for the cause and French Quarter fest will both likely be early April and then you have the zurich and jazzfest.

I’m guessing the international dates get to be less and less if they truly ever want to make a profit.

Maybe weather conditions but the course will need a very mild winter to fill out enough by March.

True but any later and you’re competing against a ton of festivals / events and that’s a losing battle.

You could wait out festival season but then it’s hot as can be, or you go earlier and compete against Mardi Gras.

Very small window for LIV to time everything right.

they’re entire company’s existence is based off of international events. Nobody ever said PIF was investing in LIV to make a profit

I would like to go on record as saying no LIV event will be played in Louisiana in 2025.
