2026 MyGolfSpy golf ball testing results are in

I'm a fan of MyGolfSpy and their tests. Bought my irons this year based off it. Unlike Golf Digests Hot List, brands cannot pay for rankings. It's simply data driven. And the testing is extremely in depth.
Definitely going to give a few new balls a try this year. Mizuno Pro S being a new one. One of the more noticeable things to me was the ProV1's drop in performance from last year. The ProV1x left dash dropped even more. TP5 made huge jumps.
And a very surprising ball tested #1 in driver distance. Here's a link to the testing....

Looks like sticking with the Maxfli Tour X has been the right move..

If there ever was a year where you can't go wrong, it's this one. And this section:
is why I always hate on budget ball models.

I just need someone to interpret all that tech for me. I have no idea how to read all that and make sense of it.
I am guessing I am Slow Speed swing on their scale and I am playing the Vice Pro. My reading of that data says it does fairly well for my swing speed. I started playing it because of a discount code I got and the price was right.

Maxfli Tour X
Matches my swing speed and I love the performance.
Hard to beat at the bulk price point.

I'm sure we could try to help.
What do you want most out of a ball? Prefer greenside spin. driver distance, height out of your irons for more stopping power?
What is your typical miss? Hook, weak fade, sweeping slice?

I don't fully understand the Maxfli Tour ball differences. Admittedly haven't spent much time researching.
By that I mean I prefer the TP5x over the TP5 and the ProV1 over the ProV1x as I don't have issue producing spin with my longer clubs. The opposite designation of 'x' in those brands is confusing enough.
Maxfli has the regular, 'S', and 'X' types. If I've read correctly, is the Tour S the lower spin ball for irons and off the tee?

I retired back in January and started working at a golf course. As a result I play a lot more now and I find times when the course is empty. I often play two balls off the same hole and always play two different labels so I can keep the score straight.
A couple of points in the article I agree with which surprised me as I was skeptical of what they were going to tell me.
1. I can hit the ball about 250 with driver so I am a decent swing speed but not top end. Here ball does not matter. I often hit a $1 ball and a $6 ball off the same tee and they are out in the fairway side by side. So once you are off top swing speed "money does not buy distance."
2. Money buys greenside spin. I bought some TP5s (5 layers) and have some Taylormade Distance plus (2 component). Again, distance is no different but ability to move the ball on approach is the big difference. Sometimes you dont want to work the ball and do so because of a less than proper hit and that is to your disadvantage. Same goes on drives. Put a little side spin on that 5 layer ball off the tee and it is going to move whether you wanted it to or not.
One thing I did not like on the article was that Sam's Club has a Members Mark ball that is a decent mid level 3 piece ball that sells for dirt cheap. It is not in the comparison. I find it better than the Kirkland. For those on a budget it is a great all around ball. Allegedly made by Bridgestone but I have seen differing reports on that.

I should know better but the new Snell P3 is intriguing...
I do love the TM Tour Response right now.

Most out of the ball?
To go in the hole.
JK, distance and height.
Typical miss? Hitting it thin and that’s not something that a ball can fix. I am actually lucky to not be plagued with a hook or slice problem. I hit it relatively straight when not chunking it or hitting it thin.
I am a 13 handicap trying to get to single digits. I am looking for some distance and forgiveness however that translates to ball flight.

That is their marketing platform.
I have tried all 3 of them.
My opinion only -
The X was hard as a rock to me.
The S was noticeably shorter for me and just fell out of the air.
The Tour is a fine ball. It is still a little firmer than the Tour Response that I currently play.
The TR is discounted to 39.00 right now so TaylorMade must have a new version coming out.

The simple answer is “pick one”
Everyone is different, if you’re using the same ball, you’re more likely to get consistent performance for it that corresponds to your skill.
I can play almost anything because I know how the ball responds to my swing. But I’ve been a sub 5 handicap for the last 40 years and change. I know how to adjust depending on how the ball plays

Since your miss isn't bad you don't need a high side spin correcting ball. Probably a higher trajectory ball and honestly the ball that gives you the greenside spin you like the most will probably be your best bet.
Premium ball that will fligh fairly high and has a good bit of greenside spin: ProV1, Srixon Z Star Diamond and Callaway Chrome Tour.
Maxfli Tour X and Taylor Made Tour Response if you want to save a little money would probably be good.
If you like a ball that is going to feel firmer and roll out a bit more greenside, top recommendation is probably ProV1x left dash, Bridgestone Tour BX. A good budget option could be the Titleist Tour Speed.

If price is not a driving factor for you, then you won't play a better ball than the Chrome Tour.
If you want a more budget friendly ball that with a urethane cover and technology then the Maxfli Tour, TM Tour Response, Q Star Tour and the Snell P3.
I believe the Titleist Tour Speed is discontinued.
If you really want to get in the weeds spend 15 bucks and do a ball fitting on Pings Ballnamic site.
There are phone apps that you can input your stats and it will give you 3 choices like the Scan My Ball app.

I keep seeing Chrome Tour mentioned.
I happened to play a round with one I found on the first hole earlier this summer and liked it. Sounds like I should grab a box and give that one a go.
Thanks for the suggestions all.
