5. Resident Evil 8 - Seeing grown-up, teenage Rose in the cemetery after Ethan's sacrifice in the game's denouement.
4. Prey (2006) - As the After Midnight Project song plays over the ending credit roll, the weight of Tommy and Jen's tragic journey becomes fully realized.
3. What Remains of Edith Finch - Poetic closure to an emotionally dark and wrenching family tale.
2. Firewatch - A perfect, bittersweet end to the lives of two complicated adults that stays with you days after the game runs its course.
1. Life is Strange - There's a moment in the game when you're presented with an extremely heavy decision and come to realize that these aren't simply characters in a game anymore but friends affected by the ripple effect of your choices. You know what's coming but still feel the emotional gut punch when the tragic moment arrives.

1. Clair Obscur - both the mid-game reveal and the twist at the end were rough
2. Walking Dead season 1 - Lee's death was so impactful. The other seasons are also great, but nothing came close to that level of impact.
3. Valiant Hearts - just the whole game. Definitely worth your time if you haven't played it.
4. FF7 - I was not prepared for Aeris dying when I played through this game in high school. At first I was sad, and then I got angry when I figured out one of my key team members was gone for the rest of the game. I stopped playing the game completely for a while after that.
5. FF10 - It didn't matter how much build up there was. I was not prepared for the Tidus rug pull.

The ending of the Mad Max video game.

RDR 2 - near the end - Arthur ends up knocked down and loses his hat - which of course happens a million times during the game. I start thinking that I need to switch to the original, canon "Arthur's hat" for the next sequence - now it was spoiled enough that I knew I was near the end. The cut scene has him put his hat on without my having to do anything. And then the music (That's the Way It Is)...
The whole sequence from there until the sunrise:
1. It was dusty
B. Someone was cutting onions,
III. I have allergies
#Shutup

The first Last of Us. My daughter was around the age of Joel's daughter the first time I played the game.

FF VII Rebirth, running around the train station begging for help. Jesus that was a lot.
Rest of the game is trash though IMHO.

Your Top 5 Moments When a Video Game Got Up Into Your Feels (Possible Spoilers)
1. Cyberpunk 2077 - The calls at the end of the Path of Least Resistance ending (or Don't Feat the Reaper ending if you die). Judy's call sounds like the voice actress may have gone through a similar real-life experience, it's so fricking raw.
2. FF VII - I'm old enough to remember Aerith's death. That was supremely shocking.
3. The Last of Us - Very beginning, the death of Arthur's daughter. That's rough.
4. Spider-Man - Aunt May's death.
5. Gears of War 3 - Dom's sacrifice.

Mass Effect 2
I kinda teased a relationship with Tali, but ended up choosing Miranda. Hurt Tali feelings and in the end she was the only person from my crew that didnt make it back from the Suicide Mission. Actually felt bad about it.
Hell Blade Senua's Sacrifice..
the whole game just messed with me (as it was designed) in a good and bad way. Never knowing what is real, what was in her head and that in the end it didnt really matter..it was a story about accepting loss and at the time it I had lost two people very close to me so it resonated deeply.
A Plagues Tale Requiem SPOILERS
The decision at the end to kill Hugo, the person you've spent 2 games trying to protect and save his life was pretty brutal.

I'm pretty divorced from emotion when playing video games, for some reason I don't get into them the same way I can movies in terms of characters, story, all that jazz. Just don't have the same suspension of disbelief.
Regardless the first time I can remember anything in a video game in the feelz department was when Cyan saw his wife and child boarding the Phantom Train to the afterlife in FF6.

As a casual gamer, I was the same way until I experienced the games on my list. Have you played the top 3 on my list by any chance?
