So when will this Halo take place?

Seems to be a continuation of the Halo Wars 2 events; I think HW 2 took place around the same time as Halo 5.

They’ve just lost the luster. Not as fun to fight and they’ve been in too many games

Obviously the most important thing about a Halo game is the MP which we haven't seen yet, but what were your thoughts on the reveal today so far? I'm sure with 4 months to go they're still working on and refining everything.

Halo seemed solid for the most part.
I'm impressed 343 has yet to learn their lesson that sprint just does not belong in Halo, but oh well. That won't necessarily torpedo it anyway, but definite negative.

Looks like they reversed from the unnecessarily faster gameplay of H5, at least from the brief gameplay trailer, although campaign only makes it harder to gauge that. Faster/Slower != better. It depends on overall flow, and older Halo usually struck a good balance. 5 is one of the only ones that stuck out in a negative way by going too fast, and it felt very forced.

Grappling hook is going to completely depend on how it's implemented. It could be a good addition, could be complete fricking garbage, so I don't think there's much to say on that at the moment.

Gunplay seemed fine, and some of the new weapons/fresh takes on old weapons show some real promise.

Graphically, it looks like it's somewhere between 1-3 and 4-5 styles. Not as cartoony as the latter (epsecially 5), but not as gritty as the former.

Overall, there's a lot of potential, but just not enough information to really say either way as of yet.

See I've played every halo game since it launched and I disagree with this, I'm a fan of sprint being in the game as long as none of those other armor abilities are included.

I oppose it because it disrupts map design. Sprint causes maps to get elongated to make up for sprint causing maps to no longer be big enough to avoid overkill chaos. It's not a coincidence that 1->3 are considered the best when it comes to map design at bare minimum, and Reach->onward showed a sharp decline in map design quality. I still vividly remember Reach having an awkward amount of long corridors and stuff.

If they don't compensate by 'stretching' the maps, then maps start suffering from poor gameplay flow.

The above reasons can be topped off with the fundamental detail that sprint means nothing going on while people are sprinting. They're not checking around, participating in combat, etc. Just more gameplay flow disruption.

Like I said, not like it's going to torpedo the title anyway. Just a negative point, but doesn't mean it's dead on arrival or something silly

Speaking of disrupting map design, that grappling hook in MP could be 1000x more annoying than any sprint.

I was reading somewhere that the grappling hook will be a power up in MP ( like over shield ) you can pick up on the map

Those screenshots do look pretty bad. They have been working on this for some time and even built the slipspace engine to run on.

Realistic graphics was never really Halo's thing, so hopefully story and multiplayer are legit.

I was hoping they would continue on from H5s story though to finish it up.

If you watched the stream with the sound off, you'd think they were showing old gameplay of the Halo CE remaster.

I don't know about Microsoft's decision to make their next gen games initially playable on Xbox One hardware. The original Xbox One is a woefully underpowered machine.

Supposedly sprint is slower this time.
