Truth to that, Sony is just going to frick itself.

Microsoft is building a base of locked in users with Gamepass.

Sony is relying on well you bought a PS4, so buy a PS5.

Microsoft has more cash on hand than Sony has Market Cap. Seriously think about that and let it sink in.

Sony really is going to frick itself in the buttocks.

Yeah, that doesn't seem to be working at all...

Sony already has cloud gaming and has had it since ps4. It's called ps now

It's not even a shell of what Gamepass is. And you can't play games on a PC without having to buy another copy of the game.
Microsoft is making XBox and Gamepass a PC and console thing. Sony doesn't have that capability.

Oh good. Because it looks like I won't find a Series X for this gen.

Really chaps my arse that MS hasn't sold direct to XBL members with some sort of invitation system (yes, they're working on it now..)

If you read the article I posted back on page 1, they are not even close to comparable.

Sony cloud gaming is an afterthought to them, because they are relying on the way things were and not where they are going.

As HJJ mentioned above, PC play is not even a thing for them. Normally they release on PS first, that is their stance. You play PS games on a PS. Maybe PC gmaers get it, but that will be a few years down the road. They also do not release 1st party games on PSNow at launch, instead forcing people to buy the game outright. Their 1st party games will eventually make it to PSNow, when they deem it worthy.

MSFT stance is polar opposite and more pro-gamer. You buy one copy and play on console or PC. If you are in Gamepass, you get 1st party on release day.

It is staggering PS fans are not wanting Microsoft to do better and drag Sony into a new era of gaming. You may not like XBox, but you should respect what they are doing and have done to change the gaming community.

I mean they could but they don’t have to, Microsoft is almost forced to have Gamepass to even stick around. Sony is still making bank on the games they release, something Microsoft hasn’t been able to do for a while.

Also there’re near 50 million PS+ subscribers which is double the GamePass number, Sony will be just fine when they decide to really commit to streaming but at this point why would they cut into their business.

This is why they're going to ultimately fail. Microsoft sees the future and is investing heavily in it. Throwing their money around and buying up huge gaming companies like Bethesda and expanding their Gamepass library. They are also talking about having streaming services for cloud gaming on TVs and phones as an app. They are the only ones who can do this effectively. Sony is selling more consoles, sure. Yeah they have their streaming service but like you said, they aren't really committed to it and even still, they don't have the resources that Microsoft has.
So yeah Sony is winning right now but the writing is on the wall. Microsoft is taking control of the future while Sony is stuck in the present saying "Look at our console sales!!"

Even Nintendo sees the writing on the wall and that's why they are being more collaborative with Microsoft. Which 5 years ago would have seemed ridiculous

The PS4 sold 115 million consoles. The PS5 has already sold 8 million in 7 months, on pace for nearly 14 million in its first year even with "Supply Issues".

It's hilarious that you think Sony is going to fail. You act like there's this huge segment of gamers that Sony is missing out on. The PC/Console hybrid gamer. Fact is Sony knows their market, which is the casual console gamer that flocks to their exclusives.

Y'all have been saying Sony is going to fail for 20 years now. Sony is going to be just fine.

The console slaves always come out of the wood work to defend their corporate masters. Like flies to maggots. It's always so pathetic.

You idiots need to get off this things of wanting and declaring a "winner" and wanting the other to fail.

The competition between these companies is a GOOD thing.

I have all 3 major consoles and a PC. It's a great time to be a gamer.

This back and forth stuff is stupid AF.

Only the Sony fanboys are defending a console itt. The other "side" of this discussion is talking about how great a deal Game Pass (on PC and XBox) is and how Microsoft isn't concerned about outselling Sony consoles.

ETA: For me, I just don't see any value with the Sony consoles. I can't justify buying an entire console for the 2-3 exclusives I might want to play when Game Pass has, at some point, gotten literally every other game I want to play.

Agreed.

It’s also a message board and it’s fun to have banter back and forth. I don’t take this seriously IRL.

It's the truth. There just aren't enough exclusives for me on PlayStation to justify getting the console. It's the same reason I wouldn't buy a Switch when BOTW was the only game worth getting.

I can see that argument, but I DEFINITELY got my money's worth out of BOTW

Oh we got it about a year after BOTW came out, and yes I love BOTW but if it was the only good game on Switch I still wouldn't have one. We have about 30 games on Switch now, and almost all of them exclusive to Switch, although right now it's a "Just Dance 2021" machine more than anything else.

It's a thread about XBox. The only folks acting like pricks are the ones coming into it to talk about PlayStation.
