Why the frick would make this the standard controller? I can't believe that a system this expensive doesn't come with rechargeable controllers! I just put brand new batteries in my controller, and I only made it through a couple of holes on Tiger Woods before it started turning off in the middle of a shot.

They have rechargeable cases, so it's an obvious profit move to make the batteries standard and the charging ones $20

Did you buy your batteries at a flea market?

I still use a controller that uses AA batteries, but they last for a a good while. I prefer that to having to plug in my controller periodically.

I guess Walgreens is now considered a flea market!

They shouldn't sell used batteries at Walgreens as new then!

Sounds like a battery problem. I bought a 24 pack of Duracell's for the house before BLOPs came out. Still working on that same pack.

I use to have a rechargeable battery pack but it stopped holding a charge after a few years.

This. I had the rechargeable batteries and they lost potency over time. It got to the point where I had to hard wire the controller to use it with the rechargeable pack in the controller. now, I just buy large packs of AAs on Black Friday for use with the Xbox.

I'm not sure if you know this, but Microsoft is actually trying to turn a profit. They make good money off the Play and Charge Kit, but it isn't a huge inconvenience to use batteries either. On the other hand, why would Sony not include an HDMI cable with the PS3. It would cost them next to nothing, and no one is going to go look for a Sony HDMI cable. Also, for the vast majority of PS3 users an HDMI cable makes a huge difference. It's a much bigger difference than having to change batteries every 50 hours or so. FTR, I have both systems. I just thought this was a strange thing to get upset about.

Disagree. When you consider the amount of units they want to move, it's a smart cost cutting choice. Sony is hemorrhaging cash right now.

Really, never thought about that! I guess it's impossible to make rechargable controllers part of the system? I wonder how Sony does it?

I keep my controller plugged in. The cord is plenty long enough and I'm not sitting across the room. I've always played games with a wired controller while sitting fairly close to the tv so its no big deal.
