Yes. One of the greatest PC games ever made.

I tried red dead and was frankly a bit turned off bc it is so immersive and I don’t have to time to spend on it all. Is this game the same way?

Ya, you're gonna want to pass then. I've easily put over 100 hours in to the game. And I still never finished all the side quests.

If you do every quest, max level and get rid of every pesky ? map location, the game can take up 200 hours.

I still get triggered every time I see or hear the name Skellige Islands.

I won't disclose how many hours my OCD arse spent in that little dinghy fighting flying mermaids.

How am I supposed to do all these side missions without leveling too high?

Why are you worried about your level being too high? That was never an issue for me and I did all the side missions.

I’m 5 levels above the story missions. The enemies are low. It’s no fun because they all die too quickly.

The one thing the game didn't do right was the level of the quests. I think they hoped people would immediately pop off to Skellige before wiping out most of the quests in the first main area but most OCD folks like to clean an area before moving to the next. I know I play RPGs that way.

If you are on normal, you will be a bit of a God by the time you finish the game. Then the DLC will smack you in the face and tell you, you know nothing John Snow.

Then you will build back up to being a God. Only way to stop that is play on the harder difficulties.

This is good to know. I was playing on the second highest difficulty and just bumped it up. Forgot you could do that. I started the game probably 2 years ago but took a break in Novigrad because I tried to explore everything and do every mission and got burnt out. I’m level 25 and just finished the ugly child.

That's what I did and the game surpassed ocarina of time and majoras mask by a long shot to best game I've ever played.

To the OP, don't study on this shite or think too hard about it. Enjoy the ride. The DLC is badass as well

I’m a OCD player as well. Cleared out most of the ? In Novigrad except the far right hand side (DLC areas - damn boars) before going to Skellige. I was probably level 35 when I finished the main quest. All the sunken treasure areas in Skellige help you level up also.
I’m on Blood and Wine now at level 44 using the top level Ursine gear with the rune from the rune rite that makes all gear regenerate stamina like light gear. I’m almost unstoppable. I can play like Tyson and Bully my way through most situations. I’m a bomb throwing bastard and have those stats maxed out. I don’t use dedoctions much except the one that lets you carry more weight (wish I knew more about them / studied them more. Golden oriole, killer whale, black blood, and thunderbolt are pretty much the only potions I use. Mainly just load up the swords with oil and go to town.

Caretaker in Heart of Stone is by far the hardest enemy I’ve faced.

I mod the heck out of it on replay.

Indestructible fast boat.
More money for merchants.
increased max bet for qwent.
Unlimited inventory.

Extra mutation slots, but this makes the game way to easy.

alchemy is a must. It takes some time to get acquainted but once you have down what to use when you just go beast mode on everything.

also, it just feels way more witchery to actually be using oils/decoctions to prepare for fights
