I don’t know too much about their financials, but I do read a lot about them struggling these days. With gaming moving towards digital already, will Coronavirus and it’s looming shutdowns be the end of Gamestop?

It's a shame, gamestop should have gone out because of sheer incompetence, not with an excuse like this.

No reason to go to GameStop when you can buy games online. Especially when sales are running from PS or Xbox online stores.
Not to mention they don't give you much back for trade in

The virus will increase demand for digital titles.

Digital titles will be the death of Gamestop.

GameStop is heavily owned by insiders and institutional investors. They’re gonna try to turn it around or get a buyout from another company

Mom and pops shops are all that's needed for video game stores.

Using the greater BR area as an example, you need 2 to 3 independent game stores that can cater to the physical copy people, retro market and accessories. Even that number may be too big

If they would give me some incentive to buy physical media I would be glad to give them some business. I mostly bought physical media until around 2018 because of the price and because I could trade in games. That and I had more time so I played through more games rather quickly. Now every time I check pricing on a digital store its cheaper..often a lot cheaper than what Gamestop is offering used and they give so little for trade ins on games that older than 6 months.

Only reason they might hang on is the new systems coming out at the end of the year. They'll fold by the end of 2021.

I went to GameStop and made a purchase specifically because they were refusing to close.
