Great Video by BeatEmUps and Arlo on this topic. I hadn't really thought about this stuff to be honest.

I haven't either, bu they are seriously dropping the ball here specifically with the Square-Enix and Capcom titles, not to mention the titles they have full control over.
I do wonder if the indie focus has just taken time away. They are releasing 5-7 indie titles every single week.

OK, a few minutes in and if this is even true, thank you Nintendo for looking out for me. God forbid I have the opportunity to play the games I WANT to play.
You had to have the foresight to see that VC possibly could cut into the sales of some of their other indie games, so why even hint at it in the first place? Plus, regardless of how much power nostalgia has, it's not something most gamers are going to dedicate a large majority of their time playing. Get your fix, play the new games.
ETA The more I watch this, I don't buy this for a second.

While it's true that Nintendo has always been shrewd about cutting into sales fears (and you know Square would NEVER release a Crono Trigger VC with the remaster on the horizon, it isn't just Nintendo), as a fan it should tick off video games fans ( not even simply Nintendo fans). More access to more games should be the goal.
Honestly, I've stopped buying indie games because I don't want to contribute and some games, namely RPGs and Fighters, are just never that good when produced by indies and I love those two genres.

I'd imagine VC will come around the same time they start the subscription service.

It has to be a big E3 announcement at the latest.

Can we stop re-buying the same damn games every time Nintendo releases a new console?
