Just went live

I'm playing it now on PC. I like it so far but the controls feel sluggish to me. Was using a mouse and keyboard - about to switch to a controller and see if that feels better.

I was very very good at battlefront 2 flying and this is a very big shift. I also am enjoying it but I have a real real hard time aiming

I'm waiting to see if people can get some head tracking working for it. Been using my hotas and a cheap phone app for head tracking in MSFS and I don't know if I can do another flying game without it.

I’ll play it once it is made part of Game Pass but it looks like some fun

For people jumping in, I strongly suggest playing at least some of the campaign before jumping into online. It will massively improve your performance. I played one match last night and got destroyed. Made it about half way through the campaign and Went back onlinedid pretty well and felt much more comfortable

Game is absolutely gorgeous. Played the first mission and then one game online. Was fun. Flying is still getting used to, but overall I like the controls.

I think it's worth the $35 I paid for it but only because I am a huge Star Wars fan and miss playing those types of games.
Unfortunately, it's like Battlefront in that the campaign seems hobbled together from assets made for the multiplayer.

Got it for VR, it is super pretty on the Index, but I won't play it long. It's way too arcade garbage for me. I rather more sim style gameplay.

Expand on this and describe what you mean for this particular game. I am considering buying it but want as much info as possible

Watch a video of gameplay is the best way to see it, the game is designed for anyone to play and so vehicle control is made so anyone can play it.

I thought the campaign was enjoyable. It felt like it was a pretty good length and variety

The game isn’t arcadey lol. That’s a bad take.

So you can’t answer the question. Got it.

The game isn’t arcadey. The gameplay is relatively static, you go somewhere, dogfight, and then blow stuff up. But I do think there’s a fair amount of customization that will allow you to change how you play.
Each of the 4 ship types feels different. You can choose your hull type, primary, secondary weapons, and engine that will further specialize what you’ve choose. Combat is pretty familiar to the x wing call tie fighter games. You can choose if you want your lower funneled into shields, engines, or primary weapons.
Probably the best example I have on how big of a difference this made was on the game’s final boss. I was getting my arse kicked. I must have lost like 15 times as a tie interceptor with high speed and low maneuverability. I switched over To a tie fighter (and had to restart the mission) where I did a super heavy hull with low maneuverability and speed, and I beat the boss on the first try

It's not something I can put into words easy. Watch this vid. It's just the way the ship and such operates. It's like GTA vs other FPS type games, GTA takes some of the skill out of it with assists. Spaceflight/how the ship operates/physics is simplified to make the game more accessible. Sim vs Arcade, think EA NASCAR games vs iRacing.

The gameplay is extremely arcadey, go play something like Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen and try to claim this is a sim in comparison.
