What's with the hype of Fornite

Never played it but keep hearing everyone mention it. What kind of game is it and is it fun? Why is it so popular ?

just download it, it's free. insanely fun with tension-filled, adrenaline-inducing moments that no MP game has ever given me before.

It's a Battle Royale game. 100 drop in, only one person or team can win.
It's a little cartoony, especially when compared to PUBG and it also has a building aspect.
I think it's a blast, especially when you have friends to play with.

Battle Royale games are all the rage right now. Fortnite and PUBG are the two big ones. Fortnite actually recently became the more popular game passing PUBG in concurrent playerbase.
It also helps that EPIC, the devs, are pushing updates through weekly and actually are active within the community.

As a console PUBG player, I'm about to check out Fortnite. Been avoiding it due to the "cartoony" graphics, but it's hard to justify playing the mess that is PUBG right now while Fortnite is running as smooth as ever by all accounts.

They don’t tell their players to get gud and suck it up when it comes to Chinese hackers. Their servers work.
Why were they even “considering” this....like it’s clearly a fricking issue. Fix it.

I play PUBG every now and then with friends, and I've been very hesitant on trying Fortnite because of the building aspect alone.
I feel like I will just get frustrated with the learning curve of building + combat and stop playing. I may give it a good one day.

I keep seeing this, and while it was bad at first, I’ve played the past four weeks without one problem... not sure why people keep saying this
I’ve also never seen any hackers, but I pretty much only play FPP

I’ve never played a single match where I landed and didn’t have to wait for the map to spawn around me. Haven’t played in a week or more.
Last time I played I hit a dude with no vest 3-4 times with a shotgun only to get one shotted in return. It actually got worse the last update I played
Console version is trash in both graphics and playability.
I’ll give it another week or so before I give it another legit shot

He asked about Fortnite, not Rainbow Six Siege.
Fortnite is where the COD kids decided to go and be toxic. There's nothing appealing about Fornite except that it's free.
