Word is that it hasn’t worked out well for Ninja. Or at least having him on the platform hasn’t worked well for Mixer. One of those.

Ninja viewership seems to be pretty low every time I check over there. He had about 3000 the last time I checked, which is like 10% of what he had at twitch. Not many people followed him over there. Maybe Shroud will be different.

Eh, most times I've watched Ninja on mixer he is usually above 10k. Still not the 30k-40k he was pulling in on twitch but solid. Plus he's so busy doing other stuff the fact he can still maintain above 10k is impressive. He's more than just a streamer now though.

Good luck to Shroud, hope he got paid and set for life because he is about to lose half his community.

He got a HUGE downside guarantee. If this whole thing fails he will just go back to twitch with a gigantic check from M$ in the bank.

Oh now this is interesting. Shroud's fanbase is way more established and not just a bunch of Fortnite kids like Ninja's was at Twitch.

Still think Microsoft is just throwing money for nothing because Mixer is dead af these streamers won't help it.

Big thing to mention is that Matt Salsamendi, Mixer founder, left Mixer last week.

Problem is Mixer UI is terrible compared to Twitch. Also, Mixer has no equivalent of Amazon Prime. So no free subs for users to use on streamers.

I'm sure Shroud got paid but he's going lose viewers and hurt his brand in the long run. Of course he may not care as he should be set for life just like Ninja.

Yep, also Mixer is $6 a sub compared to $5 on Twitch IIRC

Yeah, he doesn't care and he shouldn't. 75% of his subs are free twitch prime subs, so he has basically been an Amazon employee for the last few years(minus donations, of course).

I watch a lot of PUBG streamers and there are a lot of guys who are full time that without twitch prime would living in a dumpster. Most of them have 150-400 viewera and have 1500-2000 subscribers. If Amazon ever decides to drop Twitch Prime(they won't because the bought twitch for the tech and knew it would never pull a profit) those guys are fricked.

Some streamers can utter the words "twitch prime" on strean and easily clear a few hundred dollars in a matter of minutes

Mixer's mistake is pretty bad. They think the communities formed around these streamers are based on the streamers alone and they will be followed loyaly. A lot of it has to do with the convenience of twitch and the culture that has been established there. And the great thing is a lot of that culture moves from channel to channel because of how iconic the emotes are. Ninja is nothing without that.

For any viewer on twitch that watches small streamers in addition to the big ones, they aren't going to follow these giants to mixer because they lose the flexibility of flipping back and forth between these other channels they love too.

Ninja and shroud are essentially selling out for a quick and guaranteed pay day. But good for them because when mixer fails twitch will welcome them back with open arms. Microsoft is the real fool here.

I go to Twitch to browse and see if anything looks interesting or check out new gameplay, there are a handful of streamers I will watch if it's a game I like. I am not following anyone anywhere, I have never watched FB (don't get on it), Yahoo, or Mixer gaming.

Exactly. I understand them trying to build the brand, but they need to incentive their viewers to follow. In twitch land, subscribing means being apart of an exclusive community, whether it is with sub only chat or emotes, and most of them will not dish out the actual cash to pay for that privilege. Pre-Prime Twitch was a wasteland of haves and have nots, with very few having a substantial and consistent following. So, unless Mixer decides to roll out their own version of Prime, Mixer will be the same way.
