Incredible run. COD4. Skyrim. Bioshock. Halo 3. Gears. Mass Effect (1, 2, and 3). Assassin's Creed. Left 4 dead. Rainbow Six. Crackdown. Ghost recon. Fallout 3 (and Vegas) Bad Company 2. Battlefield 3. Left 4 Dead (and sequel). Borderlands 1 and 2. Red Dead Redemption.
360 Golden Age

This leaves out Forza.

Is there a better era?

No . As much as I shite on the Xbox nowadays and like 85% of the time for good reason the 360 brought live, brought Netflix exclusive for a year I believe, had all the games 18-24 wanted. I think they only slightly lost to ps3 at last minute in overall sales because the red wing. But yes Xbox 360 other than maybe ps1 was the best gaming console ever.

OP you’re just using game catalog not that they brought online gaming and streaming

While the PS3 was technically superior most multi-platform games ran better on 360.

I’m not a tech guy but i watched something on this it had to do with the whatever card they produced with NVIDIA (I think) that made splitting CPU and GPU usage a disaster and took like 5 years for devs to get on board. Still while PlayStation has killed Xbox overall 360 was the best. Ps4 was pretty god damn good though

Yeah, the PS3 with its "Cell" processor was a lot harder to work with than the 360's x86 architecture. Fortunately Sony learned their lesson (the PS2 also had similar problem thanks to the "Emotion Engine") and has been x86 since.

yeah, those Japs and their big brain was too big for us American's and Microsoft. they had to dumb it down to be able to compete.

Bethesda never figured out how to develop games on the PS3. Pretty much every Elder Scrolls and Fallout released on PS3 is broken in some way. Oblivion may be the possible exception.

I had Skyrim pre-ordered for PC and cancelled my pre-order for a PS3 copy. In hindsight that was so dumb. PS3 copy got more and more broken every time I saved the game. Meanwhile, the PC version was incredibly optimized by comparison to Oblivion.

They did, globally.

The US Sales were 2-1 xbox. They absolutely flipped the script on the PS3, which was following the most successful console ever (PS2).

Then they pissed it away with Kinect, TV, DRM, etc. Unbelievable failure.

When I was at LSU everybody had a 360, I mean every single person.

Amazing how they just pissed all that momentum away.

Wild.

Xbox 360 also introduced Achievements which made me chase them for a little while with games, they were slightly addicting.

I wish Mass Effect 3 hadn’t been. Still a great game, but they had to chop up the narrative due to having to split the game onto two discs.

I always say the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube gen was when gaming was at its best.

The graphics were a perfect mix of realistic but not too realistic to where the game environments weren't too overwhelming. Also, online play wasn't dominating the industry so you had a lot of good campaign modes and games weren't coming out incomplete because companies weren't able to release online updates.

Throw in XBox Live and the relatively new experience of gaming with live chat with friends and parties it was freaking awesome.

Anyone else used to mail their memory cards to some dude who would load the NCAA Football Rosters and then mail it back? I think it was the precursor to the group on operationsports that created rosters. His website was ncaarosters.com or something akin to that. Those were the days
