WC3 / early WoW really was when WarCraft's universe and lore was at it's peak.
It's such an abomination these days. The incessant need to continually add new shite to sell expansions has just polluted it and it jumped the shark awhile ago.

Blizzard devs removing features from WoW, over simplifying the game, and underestimating the impact on players' fun that some systems and spells had that were removed are the main reasons the game sucks now. Horrible lore is a big reason too. They had no idea what to do after we killed the villains from WC3.

I can accept that Warcraft's world has always been a little silly, but several years ago I logged into a WoW free trial for a Hearthstone promotion and the city was full of motorcycles, flying carpets, sparkle ponies, Pandas, whatever.
There comes a point where suspension of disbelief is shattered and it's no longer this fantasy world but this unholy abortion of random crap.
As WoW became more casual it also became sillier.

It absolutely is. Just because something is a fictional fantasy world doesn't mean anything goes.
Imagine if in Lord of the Rings Gandalf suddently pulled out a machine gun to fight the balrog. It would be extremely jarring and out of place, even though it's not nearly the most "unrealistic" thing in the movie.
